RunRyder wants to develop guide lines for posting etiquette. Please click here to make suggestions and add comments. The following is considered bad etiquette: MESSAGES TYPED WITH ALL CAPS. Using one word replies such as "NEAT". Making multiple posts with the goal of getting forum users to visit another site (spam). Using the [IMG] tag to post non-RunRyder smiles. This turns on the Photo topic icon.

Since 2001 this site's discussions have been end user driven. RunRyder, LLC develops and maintains fast paced, special interest discussion forums and derives it's operating income from the sale of third party display advertising. RunRyder invests heavily in the continued development of it’s discussion environment, providing the most appealing experience for all involved. Mission statement: Provide an open and free forum for end users to share and discuss their insight and experience. Allow vendors to answer post sale tech support questions. Provide vendors with an effective platform for promotion of product or service via paid display advertising. Definition of a Representative: Anyone that develops a pattern of product promotion. RR reserves the right to block this promotion (no anarchy - no spam). Team managers must take responsibility for their independent marketing agent’s actions. RunRyder and the flying field are not the same. Membership break down goes as follows: 99% represents the true hobbyist. 1% is the compensated insider. The 1% will have their promotional cheerleading (spam) kept in check irregardless of post contributions. The site is about the end user and their contributions. RunRyder’s number one problem is backdoor marketing via forum posts. This activity puts the site’s success and appeal at stake. There are four areas that can be used to facilitate unpaid advertising when creating posts. 1. Member name – Excessive posting using a company name. 2. The message – On topic response OK but references to product or service availability not OK. 3. Profile signature block – Company affiliation OK but without URL or contact specifics. 4. Profile home page link – if you are a marketing representative or an advertiser, over 100 posts turns off your home page link. If you see a member repeatedly marketing or promoting via posts please click Attn: RR. No Anarchy - No Spam Current RunRyder advertisers are allowed to create two topics (posts) per month for marketing. Follow up posts will answer questions and not be used for continued promotion or bumping. The forum "CLASSIFIEDS - Vendors" can be used for this. In popular forums these topics will be moved or closed after a weeks time. All other discussions will be on topic and not used for selling. Product links, videos or photos will be limited to the opening posts of the two selling topics. Answering questions anywhere else will not include photos or links (use PM instead). One exception is a tech support clarification photo that has been cropped for the context (no beauty shots). rrAdvertisers should use their (2) monthly marketing posts wisely. In summary, RR is about the true end user sharing and discussing his or her modeling experience. Site economics dictates that commercial promotion and selling will be done through paid display advertising. Selling via posts will be limited to just (2) posts a month for current advertisers. It is highly recommended that advertisers keep their ad images fresh. RR has developed an effective ad rotation system via your “My Gallery”. RunRyder is a large community with 12,000 active members and over 50,000 posts a month. To maintain site appeal RunRyder lightly moderates and does not micromanage every conversation. RR moderation relies on member feedback, meaning for the most part, the site is community policed. Members contribute feedback by clicking Attn:RR on problem posts. This feedback and its source will not be revealed and will remain private. Sometimes, problem post histories take time to become apparent. Just because you posted it does not mean RR read it or approved it (see Member Policy). Important: RunRyder does NOT read member Private Messages unless they are specifically sent to RR. RunRyder does NOT moderate or get involved with Private Message traffic in any way, shape or form unless a PM is forwarded. Use your PM’s Report Spam link to report spam or illegal activity. Most RR moderating actions will happen without discussion. If moderation is not obvious then use pmRR to ask for clarification.

Marketing freely via posts is not allowed. Spam will ruin site appeal. Site policy, created for the good of the true end user, is going to be enforced. If you see Reps spamming please click Attn: RR. Reps are always welcome to clarify end user technical questions. Reps are not going to answer questions on what product is best or create topics about the products they sponsor. Rep responses are to be of technical nature only. Links or photos unrelated to technical specifics are not okay. Reps and product reviewers should talk to their respective vendors about creating formal RR marketing posts. RR policy levels the marketing playing field by blocking spam and letting the ads do their job in the background. Advertising revenue supports RR’s continued investment in growing the RC hobby. You will be identified as a marketing rep if you develop a pattern of promotion. If you fail to follow RunRyder’s policy and direction, your subsequent offending posts may start turning pink. To learn more about pink posts and topics please see below. Please help police and maintain order by clicking Attn: RR or pmRR. Understand that RunRyder enforces policy in a private manner so as not to distract the end user. Vendors must account for and be in control of their contractually obligated marketing agents. Vendors and their Reps are not allowed to critique or pass judgment regarding their competitors. RunRyder Vendor Policy Advertiser Galleries rrAdvertisers should use their (2) monthly marketing posts wisely.

Re: Using posts to advertise product. Reps cannot create topics about the products they represent unless they coordinate with their vendor and abide by the two vendor posts a month policy (see above). To work around the two post limit, build DOCS need to be done via My Gallery scripting. It is very easy with an example here: Freya X-spec Again, it is easy once you get going. One way to become known as a troll is to regularly post short comment replies (junk) that on average contains no relevant content. This site is about sharing your hobby experiences. Even in Off Topics, replies need to contain some relevant or coherent dialog. Remember that many members see every post via the “Start Here” or “View New” links and become annoyed with throwaway posts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll http://curezone.com/forums/troll.asp Troll (Internet) (from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, most often in the form of posting inflammatory, off-topic, or otherwise inappropriate messages.
