Just curious as to which engine to get for my r60 I tossed my TT36 and went with an OS32 which I like. Is it right to assume the os 61wc would run better or is more reliable than the TT 70? Thanks, Jan

Get the OS! I'm a big fan of the Raptor helicopters but not completely sold on their engines.

Go for the OS 61 WC or SX; either one is great for this machine.

YS

Well, I have been an OS fan as long as I have been around glow engines. I have had great success with their engins. 9 out of 10 engines you get from them perform as advertised.

But, I am now beginning to throw my hat to YS. From what I can tell, the YS .61 ST2 in my R60 is a real powerhouse. The needles are a non-issue and the fuel pressure system provides big time consistency gallon after gallon.

The only down side from what I can tell is that they are definetly thirsty. IMHO it is WELL worth it. Don't let anyone steer you away just because the engine has more "stuff" to go out or whatever. They have made a believer out of me.

I am running an OS #8, 30% CoolPower, and Hatorri 2-Piece muffler. It is a fuel and fly combination.

My experience with a TT .36 has left me sour to their engines. UNLESS it says PRO .46 airplane on it.

You can't go wrong with YS or OS. However, I'm a recent convert to YS engines. The pressurized fuel system makes all the difference.

I run a OS61SX-H WC and it is soooo good. You can't go wrong.

R60

I have an OS61WC in mine. But I know a few fellows using the TT70 with great sucess. You hear of TT36 problems but you really don't hear or read about many folks complaining about the TT70 engine.

If you go with the TT70 just make sure you locktite the throttle barrel stop just like the 36, I've heard they can vibrate out. My 36 barrel fell out on flight and lost the little shoulder bolt for it, had a hellofa time finding one to replace it too a I recall.

The OS is a great engine but don't under estimate the TT70 just because of it's name.

Which engine

Thanks for all the great replies. I am tempted to try the TT but my gut tells me to go with the OS.

I have been very pleased with my YS. Whatever you get you will love the extra power.

My two cents..

I have a YS st 2 in my 60, runs flawlessly and pulls more than 10 degrees of pitch w/680 blades. You will need the larger tank...

The TT 70 runs great until you get into the extreme arobatics which you would want the higher head speeds. I just went to the OS-60 world class and the first thing I noticed was the consistancy of the engine at all RPM ranges. It is extremely smooth and has ungodly power when tuned right. And also is a great engine to tune with the 3 needle carburator.

TT70, OS61WC or YS STII??????

I have flown all 3 engines and I started with the TT70.I have setup 15 R60 in the last 6 months and I think the heli is a great value. The best value is the ARF with TT70. The 70 runs great but does not make the power that the OS61WC and the YS make. The OS runs great and I personally like the way it runs on the TT70 muffler better than on the Hattori because it seems to be more constant and not peeky and runs great on 15% coolpower. In opinion the YS runs GREAT on the HATTORI and is easier to tune than the TT70 and the OS and makes the most power out of the 3 engines. I am getting 17 minutes of hard flight out of my YS with the stock main tank and the TT header tank, both are doing fine with the pressure system of the YS.Before I broke the engine in I was only getting 12 minute flights because I never go into the Header tank more than half-way.The YS also runs more cosistant and does not go rich on the Header-Tank.I am running 20/20 Pro Pattern Cool Power in the YS.

I've tried all 3 three OS, YS, TTR70.

OSWC, 15% nitro, and the TTR muffler is a great, reliable, economical combo.

OS 61WC and TT70H

I tried both of the above and i have to say they are both great. the 61WC is relatively easy to tune with the 3 needle carb , but the TT70 is also a "plug and play" engine , is VERY powerful (maybe even more then the OS) and works great with the stock TT muffler (the OS likes it too).
in one of the MHW articles the writet mentioned that the TT70 gave the same 3D performance as the 90's , thats a bit hard to believe but it is indeed VERY powerful , and MUCH better and more reliable then the crappy TT36H.
im currently tempted to try the new TT90H ,ive been hearing onli good things about this engine too, that it has the basically same design as the 70.
so , if youre tempted to try the TT70 go ahead, you will like it , i like it and i heard of A LOT of people liking it , and i only recall 1 guy not liking it so far... and you can get for 140$ i believe - cant beat that price.
good luck.
