I installed the Jeti speed controler for my Voyager 50 E ship today!!

I did a little reading on it, the basic material from the manual. It mentions it uses a 'brake'

Is the brake suggested for us with the Voyager 50 E Machine?

Right now i have it turned off ( it's on by default ) because it seems to be a very hard stop when I powered down to zero throttle.

Also, this speed controler seems to need a sperate Rx pack, it this because it does not have a BEC? I am a little fuzzy on this.....

what do you think?

thanks!

Since nobody else is jumping on this...

I'm not familiar with that exact unit, but normally you don't want any motor brake for an electric helicopter. They make more sense for a glider where the brake helps the folding propeller do it's thing.

I use a separate Battery Eliminator Circuit for both my systems, the SBEC (switching BEC). No need for the weight of a second battery pack, and no extra charging required.

Greg, Dean is right. You don't want to use a brake on your electric helicopter unless you want your helicopter to drop like a rock.

Also using a SBEC or UBEC is usually recomended if you're using over 10 cells on your helicopter.

I think you meant to say, "Dean, Greg is right..."

Dean,

When your using over 10-12 cells it is not electronically practical to have the BEC integerated with the ESC. Most ESC makers will tell you to either disable the BEC function or simply not supply one. Therefore you'll need to run either an aftermarket BEC, like a uBEC, or a seperate battery pack.

sperate Rx pack.

Thanks for your replies guys.

I have 22 cell packs. I am going to get a seperate Rx pack for my servos and gyro, the 22 cell pack will be just for the Axi motor.

thanks!

Cheers,
