Scale Model RC Helicopters > G-23 mixture question and pics of my finished Bell 47 cockpit

I am running a G23 in my Vario Bell 47 and the hi end needle is only open 1/2 turn from closed for it to run right. The servo is setup linear (50% stick=50%carb opening=50% throttle curve=arm at 90 degrees). The low end needle is open about 1+1/8 turn.
If I richen it up to 1+ turns (where I heard it should run) it won't even take off. I am running 5 deg. pitch at hover and the above is giving me about 1350-1400 RPM. I am running, for now, the 4.14:1 gear ratio and plan on installing the 5:1 ratio next time I have a month to take the mechanics out of the machine.

In general, the engine still bogs bad past 8 deg. of positive pitch so I am sure I need to change the ratio.

Any ideas oh gas gurus?

ALSO check out my finished cockpit detail on the following link. While not a perfect replica, I still like it. What do you think?

You know what? Instead of MadMan, I should call myself IdiotMan. I just re-checked my hi-end needle and noticed that the choke lever nut was blocking me from closing the 'T' on the needle. I took the K&N off and sure enough, I am running 1 and 1/2 turns out on the hi-end. Jeez, what a boob. I STILL think it is a tad rich for my oil ratio but I will work down to the 1 and 1/4 recommended. At least that will get me through the weekend until I change ratios.

Sorry guys.

Iv'e been using the Bel-Ray Synth. oil at 40 to 1 with great results!! Never had to adjust anything since break in!! I have seen some use Yamalube-R but, the cost of this stuff is a bit high! In my conversations with other Gas Model Pilots most prefer BelRay!
