I have the airtronics RD6000 Super, the servos, and the receiver that came with it.

Will this receiver support digital servos? i have the 9253 digital servo on the tail but that goes through the gyro. im looking to put a digital servo on the collective but i want to be sure it will work before i buy it.

thanks,

jesse

jeflies,

My TX is the original RD6000 with the stock 7 channel FM reciever, and I'm using three Futaba 9252 digital servos on the swash (CCPM) and the GY-401/9253 combo on the tail and everything works great.

MOST digitals are designed to work with the standard PPM/PCM signals that all current Tx's broadcast. They have a analog-digital converter that processes the Rx signals and applies the higher resolution pulses to the servo motor. Most current Tx's are capable of transmitting a finer signal than the resolution of most analog servos and the servos just go to the closest position to the commanded signal that they can (this is called deadband). Digital servos just take full advantage of all the Tx resolution available. The only radio that I know of that provides increased resolution to take full advantage of digital servos is the Futaba 9z-WCII.

Remember I said that MOST digitals will work with the standard PPM/PCM Tx/Rx's, but not all. The Futaba 9251 digital tail servo is designed to work ONLY with the GY-601 gyro. If you use it otherwise, you'll burn it out. I believe that the JR 8700 is designed to work only with PCM Rx's and will cause all sorts of interference problems with PPM/FM recievers.

I would recommend you look into the Futaba 9252 for a collective servo. It has a good combination of torque (91.6oz/in) and speed (.14sec/60deg). It also has nylon gears which are much cheaper to replace if you strip one (about $6, compared to the 9250's metal gears which are around $55).

Good luck,

Mike

Wow

Wow, thanks Mike,

Thats a lot of great info. My "Expensive Heli Stuff" list continues to grow. HeHeHe. hopefully i will be able to get the servos soon. hopefully i will start doing some 3D this summer. i saw a DNHP with all digital servos on it and they moved twice the speed as my standard ones, plus they hold center a lot better. i will have a whole lot of time and FUEL to burn being im home from college and stuff.

thanks again,

jesse
