I just received my new Hirobo 30 size UH-1B Huey in the mail yesterday evening. Kit looks very nice. I plan to finish it as a Vietnam era Army gunship. The kit appears to be very high quality. A number of panel lines are molded in and it has a very slick gell coat finish, I saw an article in Model Helicopter World where the writer described putting on rivets using something called Rivet Tape from an outfit called Scale Skins. I haven't been able to locate them on the web. Does anyone know how to contact them? Thanks in advance. I'm sure I'll have many other questions as I go along.

rivets

I purchased my rivets from vario. I got 1200 rub on rivets for about 10 bucks, For a 60 size you need about 2 sheets to get most of the panel lines, you may can get by with one set on a 30 size body.

You can find it HERE

Raymond,

I just looked at the Vario site. It doesn't make clear - are these actually raised above the surface or are they images? In other words could I put a color coat over them? Thanks!

That's a nice bird. Too bad it's kind a bit on the high side., but hey when it's good it does not matter.
Good luck and enjoy building it.
Post some pictures.

High Side.........

Yeah, I had to kind of grit my teeth when I ordered it but I wanted a 30 size Huey and Hirobo seems to pretty much be the only game in town. But it does appear fairly high quality which makes the price a LITTLE easier to take. I will post a few pictures as I go along.

Rivits

The Vario Rub on Rivits are raised a little so they show after painting if you keep it thin!! DO NOT use the type that you have to drill and insert -- this type weekens the fuse!! The best is to use a syringe with a large needle with RC56 glue or simular. Then it's just getting into the groove and spacing them out properly -- after about 12 hours your done!! Once you start you can't stop!!! If you make a mistake you can wipe it off!! Just remember that when you do the rivits that this IS THE LAST STEP before paint!!! The fuse should be Primed and Preped -- You can Not sand after the Rivits have been applied!!. THIS IS SECRET INFO SO DON"T SAY A THING!!!!

You Told Me, Now You'll Have To Kill Me..........

Thanks Dr. Tim for the good advice. I have a syringe that I use for refilling printer cartridges that might work O.K.
