quark3DNT Heliman Location: San Jose, CA
| Hi everyone,
I'm glad to read Henseleit's 3DNT has made it across the Atlantic to a couple of fans here in the US. I also got mine from Revolution Models in the UK earlier this year (March). It got to CA in 3 days!! I can't tell you how surprised I was that the delivery guy at work had me sign for the package :-)
In any case, I took my time building it and it took me about a week. The frame goes together really quickly but the last details do take some time - and I advise to be diligent. You can't really make any mistakes as the instructions are excellent but if you build precisely and set it up the recommended way, oh my, off it goes.
The only problem I had was with getting the engine to run. I had to put 3 (three!!) head gaskets on my engine for my 12 NiCd celled starter to make it. I'm also using a K&B 4520 (has idlebar) so that I can run the engine rich.
You can see some picture of the build here.
Flying it is incredible. It's a bit twitchy (but a bit of a Exponential alleviates the problem) but it flies like on rails. You point it and it goes there (so, no more excuses - I had to learn that too). It's preciseness is rediculous and definately needs my attention at all times. I've learned a lot quickly.
Parts.
They are VERY reasonable. Unfortunately, the only way to get parts is through the manufacturer directly (www.henseleit.com) which can take about 2 weeks, so it's wise to order some ahead of times (unfortunately, each crash is not the same, but main shaft, bearings, tail boom, etc., are the usual items). You will NOT break the frame - nobody has done it!
So, everyone, enjoy this phantastic helicopter. We are allowed to brag about it - I believe it's just _that_ good :-)
