I just finished my first gallon of (very overpriced) CoolPower 15% and would like to move up to 30%. Both of my LHSs sell only Morgan and SIG for aircraft fuels, so I'm limited between the two. CoolPower 30 heli runs about $28-$31 per gallon, where the SIG 30% heli blend (with 24% Klotz Techniplate synthetic oil) sells for about $22. This compares to CP 15% at $18/gallon; for $4 more I get twice the nitro and Klotz oil.
So my question is:
Has anyone run the SIG heli fuel before, and if so, what kind of results did you experience? I know a whole bunch of the local plank guys run SIG w/ castor with good results, but that doesn't say anything about heli motors.
One other thing:
For the entire first gallon I ran the motor filthy rich, slowly leaning the needle a click or two every couple tanks. Even so, the motor is still really rich after a gallon. Is it OK to lean it out to a optimal needle setting, or is it still too early? The motor is an OS 50SX-H.
