hi, I have one gy 240 in my Ergo which I want to sell. Can I use this gyro on my Freya? I think the technology is the same as for GY 401 gyro. So I think they are simply trying split the market when they told us that this gyro is only for el. or 30 helis.

I have a buddy with a Ergo 46 Type II (CCPM) that has a GY240 in it. The heli drifts all over the place with a standard servo (3001). I lent him a 9253 and it no longer drifts in a hover, but in a power climbout, the tail visibly drifts to the right and no amount of gain or ATV adjustment helped.

That says to me the 240 can't compensate fast enough since it only supports 70hz frame rate, unlike the higher models which support at least 270hz.

You can certainly attempt it. Keep us posted.

To my knowledge the 240 is the same as the 401 except for the heading hold feature.
I would expect no problems in using this hardware for a .60 machine.

Not quite.

The 401 has a much higher frame rate than the 401.

The 401 has the ability to switch between HH and rate in flight.

The 401 has a digital servo mode for those servos capable of processing the higher data flow.

The 401 has a delay feature that most often comes into play when servos other than the 9253 are used.

If the 240 is failing to hold the tail on a simple climb out, the first things I would look at are the size of the servo arm and the length of the tail blades. Both may be too short, unless the set up is so far in the other extreme that the gain ends up being to low.
