Main Discussion > Need help to chose radio. Thinking about the airtronic 6000 super or 9chf? ASAP

This is for my rappy 30. I'm thinking about getting a 9chf or airtronic rc6000 super with the 322z servos. My question is that will the 3003 standrad be good enought for now. Is there enought difference to go with the Futaba 9c radios? About $150 more for the better radio and i don't want regret my purchase.

Radio

Hey when I first got my nexus I went out and got the second top of the line radio the futaba 8u for helis and now that I've gotten into flying bigger and better helis I realize how much better the 9Z not C really is the 9c would work for a good starter radio but if you think you are some what serious about the hobby you may consider getting a top of the line radio. the 10x is good to if you like jr extremely easy to setup but the best thing to do is see what people in your area fly as a radio and go with that or see why they made their choices.

9Z? That like $1000 radio. There is so many pitch curves i woulndn't know how to program. The 9c is actually out of my budget but, i'd get it over the 6000 super if most of the people here advise me that it is superior and is something i wouldn't regret after i get better in flying. I've never flown heli's b4 but i seem to be very good with the G2 simulator.

yea a little pricy

I know what you mean by the 9z being a little high. another thing is I don't know to many people the fly airtroics except the zebos for getting help with your radio you shoudl probally go with something practical such as a futaba or a jr. By the time you learn to hover probally you'll have learned how great it is having so many curves it can make your heli feel so much better at least to me there is nothing better than something not feeling wuite right you change a little stting and its perfect. the airtronics would work but also jr and futaba in my oppinion as fat as helis go they make better radios and gyros more importantly than airtronics does.

That may be true for the heli world but airtronic has the best car radio "M8". Anyway, either people never tried the RD 6000 super or it's performance is realitively close to the 9C but with 6 channels? Its so much cheaper than the 9c and i might just go with that. I'm sort of impulsive right now and planning to order today. Any opinions are welcomed.

Dont Skimp

Pick out the best radio you can afford! Then put it down and get the next better one. Trust me, you will thank yourself later. I went out and bout a radio much better than I thought I would need and am so thankful for it now. I currently am using the 9c and feel that it is an outstanding radio for the money. Extremely easy to setup and make major/minor changes. Also, so many people are using it, that it makes it easy to get help, or find parts in emergencies. Airtronics is great for cars, but they are lacking abit in the heli arena. You will find Futaba and JR have a better edge in the heli market. From what I have seen, JR is very proud of their stuff (and rightly so) and have priced it accordingly. Their accessories are a tad bit more expensive than Futabas from my experience. Either way, make sure to get the best radio you can. It will save you a bundle in the long run!

I went with the 9chf. Probably a stupid reason but it just looks better.

You have a good point that it's a common remote to use and probably able to get help if needed.

9C --- good bang for the buck!

I just got my new Futaba 9Z-WC2 last week, upgrading from the 9ZHP. I was tempted to try the 9C. I mainly didn't because I would not be able to share programing with my buddies. (other WC2's)

Anyway, If a WC2 in not in budget, go for the 9C. I heard J.K. flew that radio over the whole weekend 2 weeks ago and commented that for the money, it had it all. You might want to drop him an e-mail.

With a rappy, the standard 3003 servos will be fine for you (for now...)

No one around our area has any Airtronics radios.

You won't be sorry

Gixxer you made a good choice! If your new you'll need help setting up so getting a more popular brand( FUtaba or JR) will pay off, but on top of that the 9CHP has a lot of room to grow. Don't scrimp on the radio it is the "brains" of the machine.

I bought a JR652 and then wished I had 5 point curves to set the throttle properly. So I bought a 10X. Then I realized I wanted a GV-1 governor. Now that I have the GV-1, I realize I could have kept the 652 all along! You will probably be fine with a 6000.

I had a 9C before I bought my 9z about a month ago. It was a GREAT radio that is very, very simple to program. Tons of features.

RD 6000

gixxer, Welcome to flying helicopters. What ever radio you choose, Im sure it will be suficiant. The RD 6000 Super is an excellent radio for the beginner, and and advanced flyer. I started with one 3 1/2 years ago and still using it for all my flying except for the scale bell 222. I needed a few more channels to operated gear etc. You propably spent more money then you needed to, for the RD 6000 will get you really far. It is the radio I will be using in the Extreme Flight Championships this July in Troy Ohio. AS you can see below there is a power house of flyers I will be competing against, and yes all with a $300 dollar radio. The extra money you spent could of and should of been spent on fuel. Practice, practice and more practice is what it takes, not a radio doing it all for you. You need to learn to fly it and really get a feal for the heli. I practice ever other week or so, by turning the gyro off and do stuff like backwards flying, figure 8's, and let the left hand, eyesight and reflexes, get there exercise. But once again welcome to the wonderful hobby of RC Helicopters.

EXTREME FLIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTENTS.

RD 6000 in good hands

Hi Alan

Nice to hear that the RD6000 is good enough for a flyer of the competition level as yours.
I like my RD6000 ("classic") very much, easy to program and very ergonomic in the hands.
The programming meny system is in a class of it´s own, very easy to understand and use.

And as you say, it is the practice and not the transmitter that makes the flyer.

I bought a RDsuper last summer and used it for about a month and then went and got another one ..I LOVE IT !! I thinit is the most under rated radio on the market today .. I have JR and Futaba radios too and dont let anyone tell you they are easier to program than airtronics 6000 super .. You can also fly the JR and Futaba and Hitech recievers with the 6000 super .. I also have wondered that if the Airtronics was not as good whyare Futaba and Jr trying to bring out a new radio that will almost do everything the Airtronics 6000 super will do ..

I sold my RD6000 super for the 9CHP if that tells you anything. If the 6000 was a nine channel radio I would have kept it. If you think you will be using a govenor in the future you will not want the 6000.

I loved my RD6000 when I was using it, but I just bought a 9CHP and I am really begining to like it. I will soon have an RD6000 original and reciever for sale....if anyone is interested.

If you can afford it...buy the 9CHP just for the simple fact that you will have more channels for things like governers and such. If you don't plan on using more than 6 channels then buy the RD6000.

Hell, I don't know....it's a toss up.

Thanks for your replys!

I already ordered a 9chf and does the govenor make flying easier. Isn't the governor speed up the rotor speed or something when you fly foward? Wounldn't that make flying easier?
