Guys Iv'e been struggling with several blow outs on cheap 3-piece Kyosho pot metal Nexus mufflers while I wait for my busted header to return from Helimax. I have seen the dinky little hatori muffler made for the concept and I want more expansion chamber than that. Has anyone seen or heard of a large 2pc hatori style muffler similar to the 60 size hatoris or the CY pipe for the concept 30 series. I saw a 50 sized jrp960545 2pc muffler for a Webra 50 on Rick's web but no 30. Will this one fit an OS32SXH?

Remember my engine is inverted and canted downward 15 degrees for the rear starter cone. I thought about ordering one of those OS 90 degree exhaust adapters and bolting my choice of mufflers on but, the additional offset would probably be cumbersome. Any ideas!

Ive, had good luck with the Macs one piece tuned pipe, they arn't the best pipe but seem to work well on the concept, I have also used the regular macs muffler which is just a little larger than the stock, the only problem Ive had is keeping them tight, which I think is now solved.

concept 1-macs tuned pipe

I'm not familiar with the product line. Would you give me any website with a pic or post a pic of yours if possible? Hows the tuneablilty, midrange, highend, tendency to flame out during tuning etc? When you say that the Macs tuned pipe isn't the best, are you referring to the power or the quality of materials or tuneability? Which part # do you use? Did you get a chance to ckout the webra 50 sized 2-pc on ron's website? Thanks!

muffler for nexus

I put the weston muffler on my nexus but discovered a possiable problem this week end. One of my nexi flys well on the weston the other was undergoing some changes and when flight test time came the unburnt fuel (untill I got the needle valve adjusted) ran back into the chamber and locked up the piston. S.so you had to remove the plug and blow it out and then reinstall the plug and try to restart. I got to admitt It took me two or three days to figure out where all the fuel was comming from. After I got the needle valve set so its not so rich it appears to have solved the problem but time will tell. Centry makes a muffler like the hatori that works well on the nexus.

don't remember the part number on my Macs pipe, but If I remember they only had one to choose from in a 1 piece, I stated that they aren't the best, I believe the hatori is probably one of the best, but I really like my macs, it has a nice tone, and keeps the heli very clean, no mess in or on the fuse, jut the tail and the main blades get a little oil on them if I do a lot of hovering. never had any engine issues, but it did not add a lot of power but it did correct the complants of the stock muffler i had, messy, ugly, sound. my only complaint was keeping it tight. it is very lite aluminum and would come loose, but now thats solved.

macs pipe/cut?/with which tuned pipe

Hey concept1, I read your reply. Did you cut that Macs pipe down and which muffler er uh tuned pipe did you use with it? Did you experiment with different lengths as you cut it down and did you experiment with different tuned pipes? We have a couple of Macs pipes here @ my LHS and they seem to be decent quality and are seamless without pressure taps of any kind. I assume that you get your pressure from the tuned pipe or do you get it from the crankcase? Looking forward to you answer concept1. Thanks.

the pipe i have is 1 piece, black with pressure tap in it. header and pipe all in one with no adjustment. I will try to find the part number for it, If I remember correctly it was only about $30-40 so I figured I'd try it. on my concept it comes out of the engine with a probabley a 75-80degree agle so it is slightly angled away from the body and back, its probably about 9-10 inches long, looks real nice on the heli, but again my main concern at the time of purchase was the stock muffler blew oil everywhere, i also tried a helimax muffler which ran good but also messy. now I fly 3 or so flights, wipe off my rotor blades and the back half of the tail boom and thats it, the body and servos stay clean.

concept 1-macs tuned pipe

Great info guy I'll ck it now. This weekend I had to come up with some fix for the broken oem 3pc nexus muffler. Here is what I did. I used a straight section of bent stainless steel 4mm 60 sized flybar. Cut and threaded the end to match the stock end and drilled out both ends of the Nexus muffler just so the 4mm rod fit snugly. I coated all joints and threads with red silicone and inverted!

In the recent past I have had the darn thing repeatedly break the phillips head off of the through bolt and throw hot parts down toward me. I have been afraid to sustain inverted flight for long because I don't trust the stupid thing not to break and sling parts into the inverted disc! Now I believe I've found a temporary no cost solution until I solve this high volume muffler riddle. BTW the kyosho and helimax can mufflers along with the aforementioned 3-pc Nexus mufflers are all OK until you start 3d and invert high HP stuff. Then they all come apart! Concept1 go to my profile and click on my web page I created yesterday with help from a friend and you will see quick pics of my srx!
