Any easy and non hazardous ways to get a nice satin finish on aluminum that doesn't corrode? Ideally a clear anodizing or something like it, that is easy to apply. Sort of like the finish of the predator sideframes. Thanks.

Thanks, John Cadwell

Home anodizing is possible quite easily I`m told. Do a search on here, someone posted on how to do it, and with what. Normal plain anodizing gives a satin grey finish, not like a clear coat over aluminium. The colouring you get on the nice bling bits is a dye.

Have used a bead blaster with glass beads, gives a very fine satin finish on aluminium. The finer the beads , the finer the finish.

I wrote an article on "home anodizing" which was published in the 2000 Oct-Nov-Dec of Model Helicopter Technique (MHT)...... You might want to pick up a copy and take a look at what's involved.....

Though I would not classify the procedure as "difficult", it may be beyond what most would want to do.......

I would also recommend Caswell......

He's about 45 minutes from me. I've gotten some supplies, mostly the professional dyes, from him.....
