I was helping a new pilot out today and the new gyro froze on set-up. Tried to recycle by turning off and on to no avail. Disconnected power supply and then restarted but still frozen and will not enter set-up mode. Anyone have this happen before? What is the fix? I have a 540 and 400 and this has not happened to me before.

Thanks, but I am very familiar with the gyro and the info on Fritz's site. Is there anyone who has had this gyro lock up on the setup? Thanks

CSM 540 Lock Out

That's funny, I was also helping a new pilot this past weekend and the 540 froze up and would not allow entry into setup?

You have to raise the ATV channel settings again up to 90% to be able to enter setup. I mean the ATV settings of the channel you control the gyro rates.

the ATV's are supposed to be set to 60 for setup, will it un-freeze at 90? i havent had the probelm before....yet

Well,

During weekend I lost tail twice due to a servo problem. After each landing servo was dead. So, tried to enter to autosetup routine in order to perform a new setup to check the servos and the gyro.
But it was impossible because the atv settings for the AUX2 had been too low (-29,+32%). When I input 90% the autosetup routine succesfullyt started. Then I reduced the gain again to the previous settings.

To be honest I haven't investigated yet what is the lower gain ATV setting in order to be able to perform the autosetup routine.

Hi Whirlybird

YSRider is right, if it wont enter setup mode your ATV's are too low, on one of my machines it wont enter if both are set around 60, raise em up to enter setup and it works a treat, just bring em back down afterwards.

If its totally locked up send it back to csnm and they'll replace it. The offer an excellent aftersales service over here.

Hi,

I have two CSM540's and they have never had any problems entering setup mode. My atv's are: 30% and 45%!

OK now I am bumfuzzelled!? We also raised ATV's and could not enter setup either. So if that did not fix it anything else?

Haven't a clue, check all the leads, conectors, is it getting power, ie are the lights on, try the servo straight into the tx, may be broken.

Sorry cant suggest anyhting otehr than that.

Send it back to Andy at CSM if its broke, they'll fix or replace it, if you ring him or email say you are desperate and he'll swap it out with either a temporary replacement or just give you a new one anyway. The service is great, least thats what they did with mine.

Said it was my only heli, sniff sniff, pleaded pity and sadness.....worked a treat.

Mind you, I've gone away from CSM at the moment, having too much fun with a 401.
