Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > TT36 is constantly leaking fuel

My TT36 engine has constantly leaked fuel since it was new. (only 12 gals used to date) I have taken the carb off and also removed the high speed needle and checked the 'O' rings., both were OK. I just assumed it was somthing peculiar toTT engines as my friends engine also leaks. Yesterday after flying I noticed that the engine and side frame was covered more than usual in fuel. I have checked the fuel lines and they are OK. Muffler is secured tightly. As I'm a Newbie, I.m a little bit lost as to what the cause is. Does anyone have an idea ?

Not fuel?

More than likely what we have here, is oil residue. When you are hovering a lot things get coated everywhere with a film of oil residue. More so around the engine because of the carb and fan pulling air (and oil) in towards it from the smoke you see coming out of the exhaust. Once you get past the hovering stage you'll find that your heli won't be so messy after each flight.

It's likly that the fuel is leaking from the front bearing "seal" not that unusual. You might try changing the bearing to one from "Boca". other than the mess it does no harm.

Two beers,
thanks for the advice, but I'm past the hovering stage and into forward flight. I noticed the extra oil residue after my 3rd flight yesterday.

Doug,
thanks for that theory, I think I'll remove the engine and try running it on a bench and look for oil coming out of the bearing.

Thanks again both of you for your help.

Not to worry my TT36 does the same thing. I quit worrying about it as the engine runs great, just messy. BTW hovering has nothing to do with it.

it should be a bad front engine, change it and you will find that you can lean out the engine slightly for more power, while still keeping the same temperature.

#61 on the 700N list and Proud of it.
