I read at Jasons wep Page, that Hirobo has release a new metal head
SZ-IV for Sceadu.

Is this mean that Hirobo is going to release a Sceadu SE with all the upgrades in blue anodized???????

Is yes, WHEN???? and How Much????

Jeff G, can you coment on this.

Boy is that nice. You cannot argue with that. I like it when the factory does the parts. I have a Raptor an of course it is great when so many people make parts for it, but on the other hand, I cannot decide who's to use.

How is this different than:

http://www.modelrec.com/catalog/mrc/index.jsp?cat=165

?

Or is the one in the above URL not made by Hirobo, and the one mentioned on jason.net is?

Looking at the parts at the MRC web site it, I think that the head listed is a GPH upgrade head. This wouldn't surprise me that they would work on the Sceadu.

The one on Jason.net is a bit different in looks and labeled as such. My guess is that the SZ-4 head has just a tad bit more pitch range.

Looks perty though!

I want that metal flybar control arm set!! Only weak link on the head of the Sceadu IMO.

My 2 cents,

I agree with Volkul, the SZ-IV will probably have a tad more pitch range. The problem I see is the FZ-III head on the Sceadu is built very well and is quite reliable and durable in stock form.

Unlike the SZ-III (Shuttle RG rotorhead), the standard ZXX rotorhead was way too flimsy and prone to breakage.

Upgrading the stock ZXX rotor to the metal version was a genuine upgrade, upgrading the already good Sceadu head to the metal one will only be a marginal upgrade, probably a waste of money.

If you guys remember awhile back somebody (forgot his handle) here even attempted putting the Sceadu to use the Eagle SSR-V rotorhead and he reported that it didn't improve performance at least to justify the $500 price.

I even bought the K&S upgrades for the Freya and just using the metal blade grips, I don't see any big difference in flying performance except for the fact that I know it will fare better in a rollover crash unlike the stock Freya blade grips which I've broken a couple over the course of crashing.

Dave,

Ever consider grinding down the headbutton
on the stock Freya yoke so the grip pivot bolts
clear the button?

Yes I have 2 ground down yokes in my parts bin. Problem is I don't like the way they look on the Freya... I know, it's silly, but that's me. I'm flying a YS80 now and it's just insurance. The SZ-III rotorhead on my RG is pretty durable and I crashed it lots of times when I connected it to a ZXX and all I broke was the spindle.

Using metal blade grips on the Freya, I want the same durability, and at $89 for a PAIR w/ spindle, it's not a bad deal. The metal yoke I got to go with it is still in the package.

sorry to go offtopic.

No need to apologise, I'm also going slightly off topic!

Just pointing out that there is a new metal R/H for the Freya, the SSZ-II. http://model.hirobo.co.jp/products/...24/0414224e.htm

It's most likely the same price as & has a greater pitch range than the SSR-V. I have a damaged SSR-V & am wondering if it's suitable for a 3D set-up Freya.

Dave, why don't you cut little triangles off the head button to allow the pitch arms clearance? Don't forget to smooth the cuts down!

As for the Sceadu, I would only upgrade parts that aren't up to the job. People have said the stabilizer control & mixing arms are weak. The R/H is fine.

I've pretty much upgraded everything on my ZXX, except for the R/H & others! Its servos (S9001s) are 4 years old now & has a non-HH gyro. Rather than bring it up to spec, got a fully equipped HH digital Sceadu 50 for thrashing around & will see about selling it.

Peeeyewwww that's ugly. Looks like a cheesy job, the stop button looks strange for some reason. If that's it, I'm glad I got the K&S version, it's way mucho cheaper to boot.
