When I re-use screws that have had locktite applied to them, I like to clean them really, really well, with no residue left. Holding the screws up to the flame of a lighter and then wiping it off seems to make this a lot easier. Does the heat of the lighter weaken the metal at all? Thats my only concern. Thanks!

I use a little butane torch. Works pretty fast. But I also baked my metal auto hub in an oven at 250F for ten minutes to facilitate bearing installation. Ah the smell of fresh baked auto hubs! Bearings slid right in and I didn't need to beat on them. The part cooled down and held them snug.
