| I recently attended the International Toy Fair in New York City. And MRC had a small booth showing off many of the company’s different items. (The only helicopter they had was the XRB)
Anyway, I had a great conversation with one of the reps about their helicopters. He tells me that they’ve completely redesigned the Vertol (and are coming out with a Chinook version too). The new twin rotor helicopters are not going to require the complex mechanical mixing as before. Instead, and get this, the model will include a “Super Brain” that will not only control the Electronic CCPM mixing for both rotor heads (two separate 3 servo CCPM systems) but will also include a huge built in gyro to replace the necessity of 3 individual gyros. He tells me that these Vertols and Chinooks will be much easier to build, set-up and fly. On the downside, the “Super Brain” will bring the price of these models to around $2,400 (I’m not sure if that’s the retail or the cost, I was wearing a “Buyer” badge, so that may be the cost) He said that their trying to have these model out in the next few months. (April-May) I'm starting to save up now (but how am I going to slip this one past the wife?)
He also tells me that the new Cobra models will now include the same mechanics as the Dolphin. Therefore your new Cobras will have CCPM, and you can install remote starters & 4 blade rotor heads (not that the real Cobras have 4 blades). And I believe that he said you can buy them in a few pre-painted versions(Along with the UH-1B Iroquois that will come in a few different styles). If anyone was wondering about getting O.S. rear exhaust engines for the Cobras, O.S. is still distributing them overseas, and the rep said that MRC will be importing them from Japan in case the US runs dry.

If my wife finds out how much these things cost, she's gonna kill me!!! |
