Hi Everyone,
This is my first post and first aircraft of any kind.
I just bought a Sceadu 50 around two months ago (still in the box).
The 570mm Blades came with Heli - not the dtds system or 3rd bearing block.
And bought the 50 engine.
I also bought realflight g2 and have approx 15 hours of hovering time
which at this point my crashes are starting to be less but still can't keep
the heli from moving all around the place but getting close (say another 50 hours).
I am in the process of purchasing the following:
Radio - JR-8103DT PCM w/JR 531 Servos
Gyro - GY401/9253
Collective Servo - JR 8101
Sense I'm very new to this hobbie would someone tell me if I'm on the right track so far?
Also can someone tell me where the nearest flying field is from me?
I live in Brea Calif.
Thanks for any info.
Chris

Pappy,

I think so far you have an excellent track record . Your future purchase seems to be well thought out as well, I think you'll save a lot of money in the long run. I'd recommend you getting in touch with Altech to get the DTDS and 3rd bearing at a discount, as you're entitled to it.
Here is a hint with your radio purchase: You might want to buy it from a retailer that participates in the Horizon Fexquip program, so you can tell them that you only need (3) JR531s and (1) JR8108 instead of the (5) JR531s. HeliProz has worked with me on my purchase I'm sure there are others too.

Good luck with your ship, and if you have questions, don't be affraid to ask!

Greg,
Thanks for your help and support.
Hope in the future I can be of some help to you or anyone else.
I must say that I'm terrified thinking about my first flight.

Pappy,

I am no expert as I am not out of thet Newbie stage yet, but you like you have great combo going. I am considering the Sceadu 50 for next heli, but I simply like the size of the 60 machines.

You will love the 8103. I had one for years...years of non-heli use. I upgraded to the 10x, but 8103 is perfect because it does allow you fly planes and gliders. The 10x heli will do planes, but open class gliders have MANY mixes etc that I do not want to attempt on my 10x. Good news is that since I have my helicopter, I do not want to fly my gliders.

I'd have to agree with Greg on the Flex Equip plan JR offers. If this is your only RC equipment...you do not have any use for the extra servos, so use that money getting what you really need for this project. Almost all JR dealers I have dealt with offer this, but I doubt you will get the support, service, and/or price that Heliproz offers.

As for that TERROR you are feeling...first time you get that heli off the ground an inch and set it down. TERROR turns into pure AMAZEMENT. However, be prepared to dry your sweaty palms. Knee pads for those knocking knees should not be needed

Welcome to a GREAT and exciting hobby and by joining the crowd at Runryder, it will make it all so much better.

Keep us posted on your progress,

Brian,
Thanks for your info.
It will be a while before I start building my ship.
I want to do this slowly.
I figure if I put in another 50 hours or so of Sim time then I feel its time to open the box and start the journey. Cause I know if my Heli was all put together I'd forget about the sim time and rush to fly it and probably dump it on my first try.
So if I take my time and have all the right equipment and review everyones posts for pointers then it will be time.

Thanks again

Pappy, keep using that simulator, it will do wonders for you. I flew G2 all winter, and this spring, having never flown a "real" helicopter before, I hovered a couple tanks of fuel through my Baron 30 just to make sure all was okay, and on the 4th tank of fuel I went into slow forward flight, faster forward flight, flew figure eights, flew backward, came back into a hover and landed. I was nervous, sure, but it all felt completely natural. In fact, flying the "real" heli was easier than the simulator.

Toy Controller

Hi Guys!
First I want to say this is the best Heli site on the Planet!!
Thanks for all your Welcomes and support.

Can someone tell me the difference between the the Toy Radio and a Real Radio when it comes to controlling the heli on the G2 Sim.
I 'm using the toy.

I've read some post where some people have ruined their Real Radios
when using G2!! Is this true?
I ordered the up G2 grade (USB Version - I have the Serial version) and hoping when I get my Real Radio I can use it instead of the Toy.

Thanks for any info
