Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Rappy 30 quick drop????

I'm killing myself trying to figure out what is causing a very quick 2-3 inch drop while flying my raptor 30. Basically, while flying it'll drop 2-3 inches almost instantaneously. The previous day it was flying perfectly. Then right from the begining, I started having this problem. I've tried everything I can think of. Any ideas?

Thanks

bad collective servo? Apply hand pressure to the servo arm and move the collective full up and full down and see if the servo moves through the range with the same amount of torque. If you are running cheap servo's I would relace the collective servo with something with at least 60 in oz. In the mean time you may be experiencing a radio glitch and I would not get to close the heli when flying

Are you running a header tank? Is your heli vibrating and foaming fuel at all? Are you getting air bubbles in the line?

Thanks, John Cadwell

The groove that's machined into the main shaft will allow it to move a little bit up and down in the frame bearings if the set screws in the collar aren't down tight on the main shaft. This'd give a change in pitch in flight.

Use to have a similar problem...........It was the collective servo.

Why you dont try to change it for a more torque one

Good luck

It happened to my Rappy30 too but instead of dropping 2" to 3", It dropped by almost a foot, three times in a row. The guys at the flying field helped me to figure out if the problem was a glitch. After so many radio orientation/distance checking, we came into a conclusion that it might be the collective servo. I was using the servo that came with the radio which was the standard S148 that i converted to ball bearing. I replaced it with a Futaba S1202 (coreless high torque) and guess what?, that problem disappeared and it's almost three months now. Now i am a happy flyer. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the servo number. It is S9202 and not S1202.

My 30 has had a similar problem, not all the time so I think I might be getting radio hit, or does the servo emit radio interf? Mine would bounce down and up twice then drop flat like a magnet to the ground. It has not done it for some time now, I did go through and replace the main shaft bearings, they were a little rough. Any ideas?
