Here's a video of JR's noon demo pilot Dickson Lopez at the Phoenix Fun Fly.

It was windy as hell. I was surprised at how much he could do in 40mph winds. At the end of the video you can hear the wind noise into the camera's microphone and the frequency pole shaking from the wind.

Vigor CS, JR-10X, OS-91, 700mm V-Blades, Performance Plus 30%

He's not only a good pilot but he's also the most helpful JR guy I've ever met. When I asked him some questions about my Vigor he not only explained the problem to me but he actually disassembled the parts that were incorrect and put it back together again including the engine/fan/gear/clutch. Makes you wish there were more like him.

Download the video here.

Great video, what are you using for recording? What make and model of digital camcorder? Very clear footage. What software do you use to prepare or edit your videos? Nice job.

Rickc,

In this particular video I used the Sony DCR-IP7 MicroMV camera.

It records in native MPEG2 (native DVD format) and it fits in a pocket. It also has a snapshot digital camera and a web browser through bluetooth enabled cell phones.

The software I use is Final Cut Pro and a freebie Ulead Video.
In this one I used the freebie.
The video of Alan Szabo's Logo 20 demo was done using the Final Cut Pro. You can tell the difference in features with the logos and shadows.

The other one I use when I want perfect quality is the Sony DCR-TRV900 professional ( Three CCDs instead of one).[break]

Thanks for the info; I enjoy your videos and the quality. I have been looking at digitals but there are so many. I have a fire wire plug on the front of my computer as well as two more on a1394 IEEE PCI card. I have been getting the itch to use it, especially after seeing your videos. I have also experimented with some video software off of download.com but it can get pretty deep. I was curious what you used since the outcome was so well. Great work!

Thanks,

Rick

Downloading now, but I have to ask -- why the .zip? MPEG Video is non compressable.

It was worth the wait of the download! Great Pilot! I bet he can do even better without that wind. Who is standing by him ? CY?

I'm always interested in guys doing stuff -

it looks like up to almost 2.5 hrs of download for this vid - with a regular modem .. 15-20 would be ok.. not everyone is high speed download dsl .. pilots skills is one thing which I will always applaud - captured to video is another matter , can you come up with a faster download for this vid? - worth waiting for in the meantime ..

All I can say is...WOW!!!

I can't imagine the rush the pros get when they do their routines. I can hardly contain myself when I get the bird to settle into a nice stable hover .

What was that maneuver he did in the middle of the video where the heli was tail down at about 10 feet, slightly inverted and rolling/turning about a point in a funnel shape? Is that a tornado?

There's a bit of compression. The .ZIP file is 38,483,266 bytes compared to 39,542,788 bytes uncompressed. That's about 1 meg smaller and for someone on a dialup modem any little bit helps but that's not the main reason.

The main reason is that I have noticed that if I post .zip files it forces the person to download the file into their computer and then they have to uncompress it to view it. Once they know the file is in their computer they can go back and watch it there. If I don't do that they go back to the site over and over. I can see by the IP logs cases where the same person downloads the same 40 meg file 17 times!. That's wasted bandwidth and that costs money. You can easily go over your bandwidth allocation with people like that and you get a penalty in your isp bill.

ColeopTer,

How much do you like that Sony with the new micro tapes? How good does it look on a nice TV compared to mini-DV?

http://www.whatvideotv.com/testbenc...nyDCR-IP7.shtml

These guys only got 37db signal to noise ratio. Shouldn't 48 or 50 be a target number?
