We have a Predator turbine, we have a Predator gasser.
isn't that nice if we had an electric Predator???

Did any one already get in to this kind of project?

Hmmmmm I can't BUY a P-gasser......and I'm trying to. The Turbine?? Gee, haven't heard anything about that in a LONG time. Now you are suggesting electric?? Lets get it one bite at a time..........

There is a couple of folks that are modifing their own predators for electric use......sniff around and you might find something about it here......

Making a Predator electric I think is a bad idea.The price of the motor,batteries and esc are very pricey,especially if you want good 3d pefformance out of it.For example,the Fury Ion battery packs alone are $400 a piece,you need two,so thats $800 for just the flight pack batteries.On top of all this you need a really good charger which will probably cost you 2 or 3 hundred more dollars.If you have buttloads of money to throw away,go for it,otherwise put a 90 in it and have a blast

For just the price of the batteries I can buy alot of fuel.

Actually, the Lipos are around $250 each, and the motor would run you around $225. A speed controller is another $120-200 depending which one you buy.

Most guys charge with the inexpensive GP Triton which runs jus tover $100. Some guys who run duelies buy tow of them, still saving a hundred or two compared to the Schultz(sp).

If you are into larger electric helis, aka the Joker or Logo 20, then the Predator is a great candidate to convert as it is lighter than some of the others in this size range. In addition, the frames could be made out of carbon which (from what I hear) saves a few ounces.

I have already converted 3 different glow helis to electric, and who knows, this one might be next.

You're right though, for the price of the batteries, you can buy a lot of fuel. Most of the guys that are into flying electric helis do not want to hear that.

I'll try this one out with my YS 91 first though.

I think most guys flying big boy electrics arent charging with the triton, maybe the astro 109, but the triton would just take too damn long

I wish GP would come out with a 10 amp version of the triton, that would be perfect

I finally got my electric predator in the air last week. Unfortunately I had battery problem almost before I started so I have not tested very much. It does show a lot of promise. I would recommend not doing this unless you have a lot of money to spare. For some reason I cost more than you would expect. I think the battery prices should come down in another year, and we will be seeing more big electrics.

i've converted the predator max to electric. it is an excellent kit for a conversion. yes, you have to spend a lot of money to get an electric to perform like a nitro, but for me it wasn't about value, it was about fun. i find electrics fascinating, and you do have some benefits over nitro that are worth some extra money. i plan to post more info on runryder once i get some good video of it.
