Hi, can some one give me a little advice, I own a Shuttle ZTS, and I am doing my 1st scale project ever on a heli. What I would love to know is, on the real local Police helicopter that I am modelling the fuse on ( A squireel EC 355)(i think). The tail rotors, etc blades are on the opposite side, ie looking from the back of the real helicopter the blades are on the left hand side. Can I swap mine on my shuttle over, is does that cause any problems and if so, how on earth should I do it.

Hi Keith,

Its do-able, BUT (you guessed there was a but comming) turning the tailbox through 180 degrees causes the the tail rotor to spin ccw when looking from the left side. This means the tailblade closest to the main blade will be moving down (with the down wash) which is usually thought to be less efficient
(although I think the full size Bell UH-1B went against the grain)
I have seen a Heim Ecureuil with the tailbox flipped over..works a treat!
You may benifit by changing tail blades, SAB do some wide cord carbon blades which "may" help to compensate the reduction in tail authority.

Just turn the tail box over and put the blades on the opposite direction. Put the twist in the tail drive belt opposite and you are all set. I'm not sure exactly how that tail control linkage is set up on a shuttle but you can figure that out I'm sure.

The full size AS355 has the tailrotor on the right hand side!!
