Is it a good Idea to store battery in the off season in a refrigerator (not a freezer)?

Cooler temperatures slow down the aging process. It is probably most useful for storage of Lithium batteries which age a fair bit even when not in use.

I thought I read or saw someplace that that's an old myth. Or maybe it only works for some batteries, but not all. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Danger

Is it dangerous to let them freeze? Are there any batteries that shouldn't be frozen, chilled.

Tom.

It is practically an old myth - i.e. I would say the benefits for most battery types are minimal. Quite a bit if literature on the benefits for lead-acid and Lithium cells though...
