btw, just to muddy the mix...

I had sent an email off to one of the bike computer manufacturers some time ago, asking them if the reed relay in the bike computer could really count that fast. It's a mechanical device, and doesn't really look like it could withstand the speed necessary. I finally got a reply today saying "no".

I had the same problem with my C08. The sensor it uses is designed so that its long axis should be aligned parallel to the radius of the bike wheel. If you have a main shaft mounted magnet then the sensor should be aligned parallel to the shaft. If it is mounted perpendicularly, then your readout will be about 2X of what it should be.

Or so I think,

Pete

P.S. The above theory checked out with my C08, which I failed to mention above.

heliraptor,

Hey Lee, I thought it was you that posted the info and my pics. I tried to go to your website to confirm before I posted it in stone here. Your website returned a 404 not found. It's up now though, wierd.

You guys need to stick with the manufacturers we have tried. I know the VDO units have been tested to read fast enough, and high enough and the same holds true for the SigmaSport brands. If you go to the SigmaSport website you will see all the unique applications people are using their models on.

From championship go-cart racing, inline skates, and heli's. I always try and use the SigmaSports for that purpose, they expect other uses than bikes all the time. Here's some of the other uses info:
