Anyone ever fitted a Webra 52AAR to their Sceadu ?

I have just started to fit mine (in place of the OS50), and have a couple of
stumbling blocks:

1/ The Sceadu instructions call for the prop drive to be removed. On the
OS, this is no problem. There is a sealed front bearing and a washer (with
the engine) that fits to the crank before screwing on the Sceadu
flywheel/fan assembly. On the Webra, removing the prop-drive exposes an
unsealed side of the front bearing, and there is no washer to fit between
the bearing and the fan assembly. Should I simply screw the fan assembly on
to the crank and not worry about the bearing/washer thing ?

2/ I was going to modify my OS Zimmerman muffler to fit the webra, but as
well as the hole spacing being different the port size is also different. I
could just wait 'til the correct Zimmer is available, but I'm reluctant to
spend another £70 on essentially the same pipe. The other alternative is to
fit a 'real' pipe, so what should I use ? I believe someone (Tim ?) once
mentioned here that Webra recommend a 60 size pipe with a length of
350-360mm. Will a Hatori 650 do the or something smaller ?

TIA for any help

Figured it out myself, and got the little fella up and running now.
I slotted the OS Zimmerman bolt holes to fit the Webra, and used a 3/8"washer (just over 9mm) as a spacer between the front bearing and the flywheel.

Makes the OS look kind of silly. Even running VERY rich to break it in I am getting about 25% extra time on a single tank with 5% nitro (and it will even run on 0%). This means huge fuel cost savings (especially here in the UK)
It is also quieter and smoother than the OS - rotor blades make such a nice sound when they aren't drowned by the engine.

I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a 50 size engine.

Stuck a couple more tanks through the heli in the hover yesterday to run the Webra in.

34 minutes (yes, 34 !!!) on one tank + 2oz header. Best I ever managed on the OS was 18 minutes. Still running very rich (approx 3 turns). Note these times are both times for hovering the whole tank dry.

Quite amazing.

Hey Carps,

I am a Webra Lover.........I have 3 Webras 50 GT on diferent planes and they perfom awesome on 10%.

I was thinking to buy a Scaedu 50 and a Webra 52 AAR.

Do the Webra 52 fit on the motor mount without problem???
What about the Frame??? Do you cut the frame???
You you use the same collect to mount the Fan or you order speciall one?
What about the Fan shroud ( cooling cover) Do it fit ok over the Head of the Webra.................

Long time ago I try to fit a Webra 35 on a shuttle and was a complete pain in the ass The cooling cover does not fit over the Webra 35 and I has to cut it and make a lot of modifications...........and that why I ask many question of mounting the Webra 52 on the Sceadu.
I want something easy.........

If I buy the Webra 52 I am thinking to use a Weston One piece pipe

THX for your help and time

No modifications needed

To fit to the Sceadu you remove the prop drive and tapered collet completely. The Sceadu flywheel/fan hub screws directly on to the crank. I used an OS thrust washer (ID 9.5mm) and an ID3/8" washer on the crank between the front bearing and the flywheel/hub assembly to give the correct offset.

The frames you won't need to touch - the Webra actually fits easier than the OS as the carb doesn't get in the way so much when you fitorremove the engine. You don't actually need to move th carb at all (and I knowyou can do this with the OS too, but it is a struggle with that motor)

The fan shroud doesn't touch the head because those nice peopleat Hirobo didn'tbother to fit one I have fitted an NHP shroud extension and frame stiffener set (approx $15) and it all works fine.

The engine mount is fine.

I used the OS version of the Zimmerman muffler as the Webra version wasn;t available yet. All I had to do was slot the mounting holes. The port size is slightly different, but I have been assured this won;tmake much difference at all. The engine is v.quiet with this pipe, and you can hear the blades nicely.

Good luck. You won't regret it
