I read somewhere on here that lithium poly are virtually safe in terms of exploding, that its just the ions that explode and catch fire. Is this true???

Also I read that you should never charge from your car battery (cig lighter) while the car is running. You need a special power supply to run the charger off of. Are these true. How special does the power supply need to be.

Make it idiot-proof, and someone will make a better idiot

Here's my understanding of li-po versus li-ion:

Li-ion will explode with shrapnel and make a 1000 degree fire

li-poly will shoot out 1000 degree flames

They're both plenty dangerous, treat both with respect.
