Sorry to hear about ur helicopter, i hate theifes ffs. After i kid i knew came into my house and started to ask my about my hirobo sceadu (30) and my Jc10 or somethink like that transmitter i was thinking y is he so instrested, Well it dident come to my idea till my dad woke me up the next morning and told me the house had been broken into by the garage and took my helicopter 3 mobile phones my transmitter and a compresser that was worth 300 pound and a brand new devebliss or how ever u spell it spray gun... But we was coverd by insurance and got just over 1400 pound . But after we got the insurance we dident know they took the compressor and spray gun till later that week so couldent claim anything then. Funny thing about it the peice of **** sceadu engine was fooked anyway and i ended up buying a nice hirobo sceadu 50 all setup ready to fly with a ff7 transmitter :/ but ready for 3D also .

Sorry to hear about that!

I have an alarm on my shop. It sounds in the house if the shop is tampered with.

About two months ago, I was awoken by that friggin loud buzzer. I went outside, walked into the open shop, and the would-be thief found himself nose to nose with a .45. He literally did piss himself. Just a kid, 18 tops. I held the gun on him until the cops came. They arrested him and gave the boy a 20 minute lecture on how lucky he was to be alive and not full of holes.

Since then, the wife and I have toyed with the idea of getting a couple dobermans. I also had a second siren installed in the shop. The loudest one I could find, it has a strobe light and everything.

Fellas, if you have a shop, or a garage, where you keep this high-dollar stuff, put an alarm on it! Get the great big "PROTECTED BY XXXXXX" signs too. Granted an alarm wont stop a pro, but it will make you a hard target and most thiefs will just move on to the next house rather than risk getting caught. I think ADT has a setup for $99.00 installed.

The criteria was that if it flew it was not covered. But things like steam trains or model railways etc etc, would be covered.

In that case here's my conversation with them:

"The bastards stole my super special MinAir helicopter train set display piece..... Whadda' 'ya mean 'Does it fly'? Its a display piece! And you better pay up before I find that they stole my back-up 'display piece' as well !!!"

An alarm won't stop a pro. But the loudest siren or even a couple of them sure makes them head out of the neighborhood real fast, especially if its loud enough to wake up the rest of the street.

The annoying thing is that the workshop was recently wired up with an alarm but I've been waiting for a sensor to finish it off. One things for sure though, I'll be wiring it up to the max before I use it again, I,just wish I could get away with wiring the door handle to the mains!

In the mean time I'm kind of stuck in limbo not knowing if the insurance will fully cover everything until the new year.

I have an awesome anti-theft system. Unfortunately I can't tell you about it. Everyone should have some type though.

Lovin' your style man!!! Being a gun person myself, anyone steps one foot in my yard looking to rob my helicopters they're gonna find themselves on the dangerous end of my silenced Steyr Mannlicher .308!

Cheers, Will.

Well, everybody says "I need a gun because I need to protect my family, myself, and my property.... yada yada yada blah blah blah". It's just that I really do mean it. There is no two ways about it. If I think somebody means me harm, or means to jack my $hit, they'd better be ready to loose their life over it. If I find someone breaking into my house, they are never going to leave. If your gonna be stupid, you'd better be brave!

Gun-collecting is one of my hobbies too. Along with the full-size boats, cars, airplanes, etc. The wife says I have too many hobbies but she likes to keep me sane so it's OK. It's just hard to find the time.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Don't expect AMA to help pay for it though. Contrary to what many people believe, AMA is pretty worthless, especially for heli pilots. Good luck, hope you recover your stuff.

Sorry Weasel

I agree, it is probably someone you know - someone you showed the stuff to in the last 6 months. That is usually how it goes.

If the Canadian is bragging about the "no gun laws", I would love to debate, but that is for another forum. Don't get me wrong, I love Canada and many Canadians, as well as Canadian boats and Bombardier manufacturing. Heck, I have seen more bears in Canada than here in Alaska. But I have the right to pack a pistol in my jacket if the wrong bear or person comes sniffin' around my shop or family. Lots of Love Canada.

So sorry about your loss. The setup time alone is priceless.

Peace

AMA will pay for what your home-owner's won't, and up to $1,000 per model. For individuals like myself, who have very high deductibles, it's not that useful. But for some (someone who lives in an apartment and has no renters insurance, for example) AMA will pay for a stolen model outright, assuming you can provide proof of ownership.

I don't think AMA's insurance program covers Canada though.

That dam gun powder has gotten between your ears, the guy lives in the UK ama my ass.
I have a lot of respect for the American way of life, but the few can make the rest of you guys look like A@@holes.
If you were as tough as you think you are try walking into that workshop without a gun.

Why do we fear change, one of the two certainty's in life

Not trying to sound tough

Much respect, I only brought up guns because someone else did. I live among bears. Bears are like people, 99% of them mean no harm and don't like the tast of human. The other 1 percent will kill for fun or eat you till the only thing left is a skeleton wearing sneakers (no joke, I've seen it). It surprises me that Canada has so many bears but outlaws hand guns, thats all.

If you are refering to the guy that retained a thief with a pistol, until the law arrvied, do you think he was an A hole??? The thief could have gone on robbing people. A robbery could have gone wrong and someone got hurt. It proably scared some sence into the young thief. Without a gun to retain the intruder, the intruder could of pulled a knife slashing his way to freedom, destroying a family.

Some punk with a fifty cent knife can take the life of a families bread winner. Why try to act tough? I am no tough guy, I have degenerative disc disease and cannot lift much more than than a sack of potatoes, but in America I can defend myself.

Lots of Love, lets pound a pint.

do you find crime high over there with your no gun laws?

I think if you look at the stats. crime is much lower in the Uk than USA. Dont hold me to it as i am no expert, tis just what i heard. Murder is definatley less, i think i heard somewhere, that there are more murders in a week in New York than 6months in the whole of england. I reckon it is down to the whole gun culture, im not slaggin it off, cus ive got 3 bb guns and would love a proper one, its just that, if everyone is brought with guns, there are always going to be problems. However in england if you are victim of a crime, you ring the police and they give you a 'crime number' and do all about it!
