Maybe somebody can explain to me why my motor is doing the following:

Every time after I run the motor (i.e. fly the helicopter ) and unplug the battery immediately after flight, my whole drivetrain acts like "with a brake on" when I try to turn it with my hand. That's the only way I can describe it.
The moment I reconnect the battery again and without starting even the motor the whole gear drive turns very easy.

The motor ( a TWIST 37) breaks somehow after the battery is disconnected ??

If I do nothing, after a while the "break" on the motor loosens up.

Why is it doing that ???

Don't know why it does that, but I think it has something to do with having electricity hooked up to the motor that makes it easy to turn although it itsn't on? Mine does the same thing when the battery is hooked up to the motor, it spins easily, but when I disconnect the battery it doesn't spin at all. I wouldn't worry about it, I think that's the way it's supposed to be? Although I could be wrong?

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Thank's Patrick, makes me feel better that others are having the same situation.

Just wondering if we find anybody who can tell us WHY ??

Very curious....
I'm guessing your speed controller has a brake option. Even if dissabled, it may require the battery connection to turn off the brake.

Can you disconnect the motor from the ESC and try turn it?

Hmmm. Interesting...

If you are saying that after a while the motor loosens up and no longer brakes, I'm guessing that after disconnecting power the controller is still "alive" for a while - but it gets put into brake mode. If this is the case, after a while it will eventually "forget" it is in brake mode as the voltage bleeds off...

Doesn't it need power to hold the brake ???

I don't think so. It just needs to short the motor leads.

The knotronik motor motor has no brake on the motor i think the controller that you have is set in brake mode what you will have to do is reprogram the controller so that the brake is dissabled hope this helps
