Guys,
Anybody thought about putting photos of various plug elements onto this forum? They could show too rich, too lean, overheating etc, and would be very handy for reference.
Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera, or I'd start the ball rolling.

The problem is that the colors change due to idling, only if you cut (or flame out) at power will it mean anything. Long term "frosting" and "leaning coils" whould still show up

Best information you can find on reading plugs

For some really good information on engine tuning and plugs, go to SKS Video site and get the companion tape with Bruce Bennett from one of the IRCHA meets.

He put on a seminar on performance heli flying and how to tune engines and read glow plugs.
