Does anyone use any type of lube/anti-static spray on your tail belt? I think my Logo is picking up some static electricity from the tail belt. I read somewhere that you should use a graphit spray. I haven't been able to find any type of graphite spray. I used some powder lube but man is it messy.

My speed controller is shutting down because of these hits. I have had no problems until the weather has gotten cold and dry. someone from another forum suggested that it is static electricity.

Any thoughts.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I've heard a lot about this too, is your tail drive belt tight enough? You could also try the anti-static sprays that are used for PC screens. But probably the best way is to run an earthing wire from the tail boom itself.

I don't use any type of anti-static lube. It's really dry here and mine never had a problem. Although my tail drive belt is really tight. I ordered a metal tail case and metal drive gear. I heard this will eliminate any static problems in the future.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Get a Ferrite ring and loop the lead from the ESC through it some, this is a good thing to do.

I've heard of some guys that will take an antistatic dryer sheet and rub the belt on it, then install the heli, and do that every so many flights (20-30)

The other trick is just take some like liquid dish soap like Dawn. Just rub a little on the belt and that helps too.

Thanks guys,

Good info. I was out flying it yesterday and had just been inverted about 8 inches off the ground and then flipped upright and brought it down and thankfully that's when it quit.

Will try some of the suggestions.

I believe my belt is really tight but will check it again. I just don't understand why all of a sudden it's doing this. The only thing that has changed is the weather and the fact that it sat for a few months without use.

Thanks again. Will keep you posted.
