I used to live in Zambia which was a big copper producer but since positions were zambianised and the country has been blighted by AIDS and the like its a mere shadow it once was.

The area was called the copperbelt and basically all the big towns were based on copper mining, not a bad place.

In Chingola they had a huge big open pit with these bloody huge trucks something like 360 tonne load capacity . It was amazing how many landrovers and the like were flattened.

I lived in Kitwe the refining town where they had the a few shafts but it was too bloody uncomfortable for me to work there.

Im aware of Roxby and MtIsa but they have towns and tourists.

Nth of WA is another planet from Nth Qld
Ive been to both places and there is no parallels.
Im from Melb so have no prejudice toward either place although Id go back up Nth Qld but I wont ever bother with Nth WA again.

WA mines make Qld mines look like small time tourist attractions..
Just as anyone in NT will tell you a farm less than 1000acre is a hobby farm.
No tourists and rough as guts like youve never seen in Qld.
My uncle was a foreman in a talc mine in flinder ranges in SA for 30 odd years, rough as guts and a head like a robbers dog,
They make Irwin look like a choir boy.
In fact my uncle looks like one of his crocs.
If a tourist caught site of him and his lot theyd get the first cab back to the airport.

Missed it myself, Id planned to go just ran out of folding stuff for the trip, might try and make the titles coming up though.

Kalgoolie is larger than Roxby. We don't get tourists. Just ferrals complaining about the uranium we produce. No one else wants to drive 100kms out of their way to see this hole in the ground.

I wont say anything about Kalgoorlie other than to say, stop at Coolgardie instead.

They dont have anywhere near as many ferals in WA and thats a good thing.
But then a lot more speed dealing biker scum in SA and WA that are a blight on the places.

The vast majority of feral protestors are NZ or Tasmanian.
Neither of which have a clue about Australia or its history.

If it wasnt for mining not only Roxby Isa and Kalg wouldnt be there, Melb wouldnt either.
Its is built off the coffers of mining.

Coolgardie has edible food and drinkable coffee and Diesel is the right price.

We kicked your arses in Rugby League the same week..
We dont play Rugby here, Aussie rules Football is the national Sport so we dont really give a toss about Rugby and beer and prawns are far more interesting.

And appart from that you sem to have missed the fact the reason we posted in here was to congratulate England on its win, because we pity you for taking so long to win a World Cup
It took you 50 years to win a World Cup

Following which we moved on to more important matters, Beer and barbeque prawns.

I was'nt having a dig, I was having a laugh, not at you, with you.
All done in the best possible taste. By the way it's 37 years since we won the football world cup, but that did'nt count because football is played by overpaid actors & bad actors at that.

As for Aussie rules, that's downright dangerous if you ask me.

I don't know about the rugby league, I don't follow that. Being an ex rugby union player, union is where my heart is.

As for prawns, the jury still out on that one, surely you don't have the prawns with the beer, I said surely not shirley.

I agree it was a very close game, a good game, a clean game, a tense game, no complaint's about the ref, well not many anyway.

That makes us equal, right. See what happens in 2007. I'm sure I can say this on behalf of all Englishmen, thankyou Australia for a great tournament & I hope we can give you the same in 4 years.

It was a good game to the point many of us perhaps even most of us watched it.
I didn't watch the last one when we won it.


And the prawns and beer.
Australian prawns, You bet.

We have Beer and Prawn nights here.
(which is not the same as Beer and Porn nights)

For those who would eat shrimp, King Prawns are the length of your hand or smaller, taste like crab meat but more tender, juicier and richer flavour.

Pull the leggies off.
Rip off the head.
Slip back the shell skin and you have a white worm, run finger down the spine area to de-vien it leaves clean white meat.
Pop it in your gob and eat, rinse with beer.

Or hot
Do the above
marinate for a day in the ginger, garlic with olive oil.
Fire up the barbeque, drop the prawns on.
Its a hot day (35C like itll be today) and the barbeque is hot, and you standing next to it are getting hot, sweat on the forehead.
Pheww!
Time for Cold Beer.

Baby prawns you eat cold in salad.
You can cook and eat large prawns cold in a salad but may as well throw in baby prawns and crab meat for salad.

I think my fav haunt for Prawns although havent been there in 3 years is the Maroochydore Fish market in Queensland.
(Which is the other end of the country to me)
All capitol cities are by the ocean and you can get fresh fish any day in city makets etc..but Qld is definately the Fish capitol, they have the best selection.

And a caviet
Shell fish, beware they are prone to carrying microbes and some people have bad reactions to shell fish.
For those that dont.
You should not consume shell fish daily, only a few days a week at most.

A bloke walks into a bar with a dachshund under his arm. The dog is wearing an England rugby jersey and is festooned with England pom-poms.

The bartender says, "Hey! No pets are allowed! You'll have to leave."

The guy begs him, "Look, I'm desperate! We're both big fans, the TV's broken at home, and this is the only place around where we can see the game."

After securing a promise that the dog will behave, and warning him that he and the dog will be thrown out if there's any trouble, the bartender relents and allows them to stay in the bar and watch the game.

The big game begins with the England receiving the kickoff. They march down field, get a penalty at the 22, and Wilkinson kicks the penalty goal.

Suddenly, the dog jumps up on the bar and begins walking up and down the bar giving high-fives to everyone. The bartender says, "Wow, that is the most amazing thing I've seen! What does the dog do if they score a try?"

The owner replies, "I don't know, I've only had him for three years."
