I've never flown a heli with a cam but from watching the videos it looks like its hard to keep level when flying watching the thru the cam and when landing.Have you ever thought about putting some kind of level in view of the cam so you'll know when your level?

When i fly in realflight i sometimes use the in heli view and its sometimes hard to tell if im level when landing so some kind of level would be nice.

Very few fly by camera view, at least not for an entire flight.

I think the biggest reason for not flying by camera is the camera has to be VERY reliable. Video links sometimes blink off or have some static, which scares the crap out of ya if you're relying on it for navigation.

I understand

I think it's a good idea, if your at let's say 400 ft for a high shot, it would be nice to see a bubble level or something like that for reference. However, I don't know how it could be done because if you see it in your monitor then it will be in your shot..

Hi,

I've done quite a bit of flying by first person view (never whole flights, just to line up shots) - I would have to say from what I've seen on the video link that little helis are too small and often need too dramatic control movements to be controlled by artificial horizon. Best to use some kind of leveling device like the Co-Pilot so the heli can react to un-level states on its own without requiring hand-eye co-ordination.

(or possibly I'm just a useless pilot).

Another problem with a bubble-level is that when the heli pitches or rolls, it also accelerates in the direction of the attitude change.

This means that the bubble-level will still indicate level until the acceleration dies down.

How about a digital level with an overlay on your screen

If you have datas to show the level on screen you can also use them to act over the servos and to stabilice either the heli and camera mount.
(i.e. John C unit) If the heli is leveled why would you like to see on screen any stuff telling you it´s leveld?
