Henseleit 3DNT - Rocket - 3DMP > 3dnt...why not ys, and how about clockwise?

Hi,

I am really intrigued by the 3dnt but wonder about 2 things. first, i hear talk of the webra being a tough engine to tune...and knowing i am an absolutely awful engine tuner, that sounds like a tough thing for me. a ys91 is more my style...these things are very happy with the same settings each flight with a little adjustment for seasons. does the ys not work in the nt? if not, i guess the os cspec may be the way.

second, with a counterclockwise main rotor, doesn't that kind of foul up some of the finer reflex handling of this thing if you also fly other ships with clockwise rotating main rotors? wouldn't you be better off with a clockwise main rotor...i see the kit offered, so is it just fine?

Thanks,
Tom

I have decided to buy the "normal" clock wise one. I also think if your one heli turns the other way it must have some influance - how much I do not know.

As far as I know only Webra and OS FX have the longer crank that can spin the motor in the "other" direction. I use Webra and no tuning problems here. It tunes differently to other motors but just do some reading and you will understand it. I have flown the last 5 week ends with not even one click changing on any needle. My opinion - Webra do not tune that difficult - just different.

I have left hand and right hand rotation helicopters. Apart from getting used to them leaning in different directions while hovering and learning to put in left or right cyclic when lifting off I haven't had any issues.

It took me two or three takeoffs to learn to lift off straight up instead of shooting off to the right - just leave yourself a bit of room.

Compensating for other differences such as weight and wind on scale bodies is more difficult than the differing main rotor directions.

Thank you. Since it doesn't seem to matter to the model if it is clockwise or counterclockwise and comes in two flavors, it does seem like minimizing "points of difference" such as rotor spin is a smart thing. No reason not to from the answers here.
