Hi there look this is for Mark lets show him how many of us are willing to pay a small fee the be on this site. Surely it wont hurt any ones helicopter funds. I think that we all need to help out to keep this web site up and running. In accordance with the number that reply will determine what Mark will charge. P.S Mark take the advice from these post and make up your own mind. THIS WAS DONE TO SEE WHAT YOU ALL WOULD SAY MARK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS POST.

If this has been here before sorry but i think that we all need to help all that we can. THANK YOU MARK

Like I said before, I donated because I get more out of RunRyder than I do with my magazine subscriptions!! I ended up canceling a subscription because of its lack of content.

Mark, you're doing a great job!!

There are plenty other sites that are free. Most people will end up going to them instead.
I already pay to connect to the net. I do not intend to pay to view a website.
Just my tuppence worth

Runryder is a great website when all is said and done.

Pay????

I believe that people will do what they are comfortable with, I don't believe that the suggested amount Mark has posted is enough! I mean really $.06 a day??
I have donated more than that before all this ever came up.....so what you say? I agree ...so what?
That is something I wanted to do because I feel that this is (as most of us do) a great site that I enjoy very much. I haven't the first clue how much it costs to run a site of any type never mind this one!

But it's worth a small fee to me, human nature being what it is will find many people gravitating towards anything free, most can afford a small fee but because their "principals" ANY fee would be an insult.....hehehe
Everyone in the end will do what they think is best for THEM, I support anyone's right to do that. Some people will go elsewhere, but, they won't find anything like what we have here.

After all, Mark isn't charging anything to be a member here.....lets keep that clear, he is only asking a small compensation for all the photo processing, where else could you get a 24/7 service for $.06 a day???

FUTURA

just because we have raptors doesn't mean that we don't have money. It shows that we want to learn with out spend all of our hard earned money. After that then we look at the fury or something. Ted

Maybe I'm missing something -- did Mark say in a post that he was going to, or thinking about charging for membership here?

I'll just add my 2c here.

I have run many membership and non-membership sites for various people on the internet (I program the sites and run them for a living). We have found that if you charge for a site, usage goes way down. The whole idea of a site like this is to promote the hobby and encourage as many people to post and ask questions as possible. If the site costs money, thereby limiting the number of people that subscribe, the usage of the site will go down -- I believe WAY DOWN.

People like free. Sometimes, as I and many other people have done, people pay "donations" -- a lot of times over the cost of a subscription -- because they feel they have received huge benefits from a "free" site.

I think, if there is a lack of interest or funds, a site should include ads on their pages. Not just create a nice little place for ads, but make sure people click on the ads and give those "supporting" companies business. The ads should not be seen as an annoyance by the users or the webmaster -- they keep the site running.

Pay for the use of the site?

The door to basic RC helicopter discussions at RunRyder will always be open and for FREE. You can support the site by joining Club20 and using My Gallery to showcase your helicopter experience. You can also visit the Marketplace advertisers which support the site.

Thanks to everyone for making RunRyder so popular.

I would be perfectly comfortable to donate IF I ever sell anything on RR. As it is, I have only sold on Ebay and feel a donation is fair if something is sold. I too like this site tho, and if RR decideds to ask for a small donation then I am game for that. I think the advertisements setup is first class, this site keeps getting better and better. Id like to see the advertisers pay for hits first and see how it goes. Id also like to state that I app. the fact that we are allowed to edit our own posts, that means a LOT to me. My.02

Futura

Three years! Thats it? Futura- you havent earned the right to criticize anybody for what they fly. I have been involved with this hobby for 25 + years. Boats, cars, AIRplanes, airboats, helicopters you name it. Helicopters are neat. I find them very challenging, whether its a $2000 machine or $250. Surely I can afford much more. Is it an image that you desire? Are you one of those who require every possible upgrade known to mankind REGARDLESS of your flying skills? You are not alone my boy. There are many like you. And the hobby world would be more pleasant without attitudes like that. I work with professionals who act professional. A Boeing 777 capt. would NEVER criticize me for only having a Cessna 172 rating. Like I said, professionals. I chose a raptor for many reasons and I am not one who will purchase without careful thought. I have a life, it doesnt revolve around this hobby. You need to find yours as well.

Personally I wouldn't mind hobbyrelated advertisement (done of course in the nicest of ways) instead of having to pay for hobby enthusiast added content.

my 2 euro cents.

777driver may have something to say when has/she has to drag everything including the kitchen sink when behind you on approach ;-)

Pay???

Guys, lets get this strait once and for all, as I understand it (please shoot me if I'm wrong).

NO ONE has to pay to enjoy this site; PERIOD.
The title of this thread is very misleading....though I believe that was unintentional.
Mark is asking for a very small fee.....NOW PLEASE PAY ATTENTION HERE:

ONLY for the processing and maintenance of the "My gallery" section of the site.....GOT IT???

He has NEVER asked ANY type of fee to use this site, and from his response in an earlier post he has NO intention of ever charging for the use of this great site, It's business as usual.

PLEASE, if this is in any way unclear let me know how it may be expressed in a manner that explains it better.

BTW, one final thought, if anyone does not want to have a "my gallery" god bless...........no one will force you
I think it's a heck of bargain, your milage may vary.
