She's In the Air !

This weekend went well with some positive results on the Cypher ... Finally !

My Clutch and fan conversion worked like a charm . Solid starting and a cool motor the whole weekend . This mod is well worth it if you are tired of struggling with breaking one-way bearings and broken fan belts .

It is unfortunately not economically viable to modify this heli to the level that I have done . All my mods weren't meant as performance upgrades , but purely to get the machine in the air with a decent and trustworthy setup . There are still many mods I could do to upgrade the performance , but I don't need it yet .

I have done the math and so far and including the mods and exluding the engine , exhaust and electronics you could have built a Raptor 50 V2 and have it flying out the box ...

And where are you all getting parts from since Cyberheli doesn’t list any and the link given further up no longer works? What is the manufacturer’s name of this heli?

Any reliability issues coming out such as breaking clutches, cracking side frames, etc?

once you have done the fan mod
it all runs well
i have been flying mine now for well over a year with no problems
as most of the parts are cnc upgrades and will fit onto my raptor when i crash it or just get fed up with it i will just use the parts for the other heli
at the price you cant go wrong

Jan,
Looks like you got a much better colour combination in your kit than I did.My washout base is the same colour as yours, but my swashplate
is a light purple and tail pitch slider green!

Lucky packet!

Looks like when you buy this kit they just random pick the parts ... "this guy gets a green swash and a faulty clutch..."

Still flying too

Hi There ,

Yes mine is still flying too . I looked over my heli this weekend , checking for some stuff needing maintanance and I found a scary problem. My Cypher's main shaft bolt keeping the Main gear on the shaft has snapped ( aka jesus-bolt). Fortunately it hasn't come out yet .

The cap-screw head snapped off and only the Nylon lock-nut and some of the bolt is keeping the gear on the shaft. Not a biggie to fix , but might have caused some damage if not found.

I Have had this bolt fail on my voyager in flight ... not a pretty sight seeing the rotor fly off on it's own...

Hi Ron,
Have you tried emailing Cyberheli to see if they can help, as they still seem to have the heli listed ?

Check the gallery!

Lame Question

Hi
I have tried to email cyberhelli to get some info on these kits but all mail gets rejected as spam (even in plain txt).
Can someone tell me whats included in the basic kit?
I know the manual is supposed to be unreadable but it would be nice to know whats needed to complete so I can see if I can get the parts locally.
Thanks

on the cyberheli site i think it tells you unless you have a del/invoice number it will come back to you
if you have time read the whole thread all the info is there
parts are from many helicopters
i never had to get spares as i sold it still in one piece
so i never had to look for them

Thanks guys for all the info on the Cypher 50EX. I bought my first helicopter (Cypher 50EX) on ebay, surprisingly it came without the manual. So for my first heli-project (and no modelling experience prior) I relied on this thread along with pictures posted to build the heli. 3 months on its still just getting the servos installed, with no real idea on what rod length or which horns to use and where.
I did a wee upgrade though, I switched the full rota head for a raptor 50...will this work?
If anyone has anymore photos or advise on the Cypher 50EX please post especially details of the rod lenghts and servo horns.
Thanks
