I Have seen some nice flying and seen people save a heli from a crash by pure luck.

Not Augusto. This freaking guy is the Jesus of helicopters. In less the a week he has save half a dozen helicopters from serious melfunctions. One being my bling bling tempest. The very nice design on the tail system of the very expensive tempest I just spent a grip of cash on would not hold up the Augusto's pirouetting huricane. and totally lost the tail causing it to spin almost as fast as the main blades pretty much. not only it was rainy and cloudy but the heli was about 600ft or so up and ways away from us. As you can see in my gallery you don't want to crash this machine. Lucky for me Augusto was behind the control of this machine and went into throttle hold, flipped the heli over and pirouetting auto all the way back to the feild for a smooth pairouetting auto and saved the Harley tempest. There is not a single scratch on my bird.

That is only one save and that was today. He also lost the tail blades on his bird from flying so hard and save it. I can be here all night telling you about his mericle saves. Well it was a good day. I got to go home with both of my Machines thanks to my dear good friend Augusto.

oh lord just what I needed.

ok I'm going to start the Church of Lost Helis.

By the way for those who haven't picked up on it already..
Ray is just pulling my leg.. They were joking about a run of odd saves I have had in the last four weeks and he told me he was so happy I saved his heli that he was going to embarras me on the net.

Dude I'm going to get you bad... hehehe

By the way, has anyone had a problem with their tailblades burning the hole area? I lost a tailblade when it sort of burned at the hole area and came apart. It happened once with my Fury and once with my X-Spec. I use them not too tight and not too lose. Anyone with similar experiences?

I may be spelling it wrong but when the tail is spennig around the helicopter is called a parawedd and auto is a auto-rotation meaning when your motor is dead. Please feel free to correct me if I have made a mistake.

LOL. I know Alan wouldn't mind. He has always had very kind words to say about Augusto.

Now that he is part of the Tninity, how do I address him? My Catholic education (all my life) didn't teach this!!

Best Regards, Dario

pirouetting autos

lol... the comment of practacing these reminded me of an incident I had with my 33% Extra. I thought I was being hit when I realized that the right aileron went to full deflection (over 45 degrees).

The similarity is learning to fly rolling circles. I was able to keep the plane in the air by continuing to fly rolling and was able to get it to stop inverted and landed inverted on the runway.

Not much damage and I still have the scratched canopy on the plane as a conversation piece.

I think that the tail blades get like this when they aren't equipped with the brass insert, This has happened to a couple of NHP's at our field. Never the less, those blades are not around any longer. I have never seen it happen with the insert, some guys have drilled their blades and inserted the insert.

I think the problem is thet the screw thead is sharp enough to just chew through the CF like knife.

Augusto,

I just noticed the same problem with my tail blades. Same brand too. Luckily I took them off and noticed when I was switching to some new blades I wanted to try out. This was on my X-Spec. Maybe you and I do too much pirouetting stuff? Heh.

Give me a call.

Verticlelimit,

The MAH tail blades that Augusto pictured do have the brass inserts in them when they are new.

Wow, that does'nt look good.

I recall seeing a recent post from "Sharam" with a similar failure.

With the "Extreme" flying style and the high performance gyros we have now the tail rotor is being stressed more than ever,
I've seen some of your vids Augusto
Maybe someone will come out with a stronger version of tail blade,
larger bolt/bearing, stronger root, etc.
We need to keep a close eye on this area, BTW how many flights on those tailblades, brand, any probs you noticed beforehand ?

Augusto,

Take a look at this:

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t72185p1/

Same problem. Manufacturer says not their fault. I even had the brass insert.

BTW, given the recent thread re "what is a Jesus bolt?", I recommend that we, hereinafter, call it the "Augusto Bolt!"
