I am sorry, but I have stayed out of all your disrespectful postings about manufacturers reps and in particular your seemingly malaise with the Century posting the names of their new field reps. Your rantings insult a lot of good, decent and hard working people.

As the manager of Team Century let me make a few things clear:
1 - If you have any issue with any one of our reps, please take it up with him personally and privately and if it cannot be resolved to your satisfaction then PM me and take it up with me.
2 - We like to publicly proclaim our reps so that Century product owners will have a pool of experienced flyers to whom they can go for assistance.
3 - We also like to make them public because we have nothing to hide. By so doing, the world will know the basis of any of their comments as they will not be hiding behind a forum nickname that does not have the brand affiliation accessible to common knowledge.
4 - We expect our reps to help everyone, not just those with our product and to be positive contributors to all aspects of this hobby/sport.
5 - We would like to have one in any area where there is supporters of our product who may need assistance.

If all of the above causes your hemorrhoids to swell or itch, please accept my apolgy, we do not appoint them for that specific purpose.

Phil, I think you have misinterpreted Seneca's postings about reps. I have been reading them and find them lighthearted and entertaining. Yours, on the other hand, seems to be that of an angry man.

Dr. Laura

Frustrated is a better discription...I thought so too, initially, until seeing the posting in the beginners forum

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t72571p1/

I did not see how that post related to the initial question.

Dr. Laura is right because this is what Seneca wrote:

Not a rep-basher, just embarassed for the reps anymore because it's been made into more or less a joke to be a rep.If you spend money on the hobby, join the crowd, you aint no different proportionally to anybody else in this hobby. Some people just want to be big shot's.Why cant they just fly what they want(variety) and not be a rep.

Phil,

Seneca was not referring to a rep in that Beginners thread. He was being humorous and I found it to be quite funny. I dig his sense of humor. You need to chill before you alienate potential customers.

Agreed

I too thought it a bit of a vendetta, although there ARE spots of light heartedness mingled in. I have posted my inputs on the threads......hence that is all there is to say here for now. Phil sounds ticked.....and I, for one (and the ONLY one so far) can understand why.

Boys and Girls?? Lets hear it. Since when did the un-accountability of the postings here stop you from chiming in??

Ok, third party opinion!!!

My father would drill me when I was young. He would say to me..

There's no point bad-mouthing anyone. Your the only one who's gonna look bad in the end.

After a few years, I have learned this has rang true in every case of badmouthing. I point no fingers and make no assumptions as to what anyone means by what they say. Also I've learned that no two people will derive the same meaning from a statement.

Ok thats my 2 cents.

Ok I'll put my .02 in.

Phil,
I am not bent out of shape about your adding reps, but to me the constant posting of "new field reps" is really turning me off.
It really sounds like a "hey Century is giving us free money" kind of promotion and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.
I know you guys have struggled till the introduction of the Predator (fine helicopter I will add), but now the rush to add reps really makes me wonder what kind of "reps" you are getting.
No offense to anyone of the guys you brought on. I am sure they are fine additions, but the overall feel to me is of a rush to the dollar bin at Wallyworld the day after Thanksgiving.

The real discussion is about the type of "reps" that are coming of age. What happened to having a few really "Curtis" quality pilots out there that showed off the products to the Extreme and traveled around to do this?
I guess there almost needs to be a new distinction to "field rep" IMO.
Maybe an area "technician" type thing.

My 2 cents:

Though I do see an occasional light-heartedness thrown in, there seems to be conscious deliberation in the overall tone to be condescending and disrespectful to reps; specifically those of Century whom in my opinion are breaking great ground in serving the heli community.

I can tell you one thing about being a rep since I've done it off and on for over 25 years: It has ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS cost me more money and a lot of personal time to do so.

So anyone thinking people "jump on the bandwagon" for free stuff is incorrect.

I hope we can all focus on what this hobby is about; supporting each other and having fun and not spending our free time lashing out at each other: It is very unprofessional.

Thanks Hawk4flyer.

I'm a rep...Not the smack down flying type...just the RC helicopter flying, having a great time meeting new flyers, and helping those, with any brand, who ask type rep.
Glad to be one and get a little discount on my brand parts and stuff. It's doesn't pay for my trips to FF's and probley makes me by more parts than I need. I like the hobby and what I fly and the people I've met and will meet in the future. That's what is about to me.

I like Seneca's humor and I like manufacturers to promote their brand and supporters. Support is best spread among those who support you. Not a rair few who fly the best but are hardly seen.

Just my opinion.

big deal.
howcome any of the new reps have not replied to this thread????
seneca is that kind of guy who likes to have fun.
he means no harm and this is just a hobby.
we don't need to turn this century/thundertiger/whatever the hell you fly into freaking gangs.
they are all good helis and they all deserve to be flown.
you give me a heli that looks like a flying terd and i will fly it as long as it is reletavly cheap and flys well. ie all of the helis on the market.
any way alot of people had made great comments on this thread and i hope all forgive eachother and go have fun.

Making everybody a rep is just a way to get an otherwise unknown and untested heli out in the market and seen. It is kindof bullsh#$ as you should at least KNOW your sh$% before you are made one and have top notch flying skills.

At then end of the day, if a new heli takes off and becomes popular that there were a 100 reps on, they will cut WAY back on the number of them.

Just a market share ploy. SENECA is right.

Like I said - top notch pilots... Have you seen Matt and Sean fly lately? Up-and-comers 'cause I fly with them and I know. Also, it is, in part, a reaction to Century's 'million man march'... and market share maintenance...

Too much fun watching all of this back and forth though! We as consumers will be the beneficiaries for sure. I need to get on the bandwagon though and quit paying for ****!!!!!!!!!!! Am I the only real customer out there? Seems that way. Me and a couple of asian guys in Singapore and some unsuspecting Brits I think... Man, what a hobby that can support itself with 5 customers and 25,000 sellers!

At least the videos Wade and I are doing are taking off and starting to supplement the expense!

Seneca...everyone's 'special' nephew

I mean it in the most benign sense. I've come to find him entertaining (again, like the special nephew)

You listen (read), you laugh...uncomfortably... but what can you do... he's a member of the family and [generally] harmless.

As for his latest target of tyrate, reps, if you read throught he posts, there pretty innocent an funny.

Old Fart - Bieng the manager of Team Century, you must obviously feel that his comments are hurting century's name or you probably wouldn't have said anything. NOBODY is going to think anything less of century, or thier reps from a little joking.

besides, I think I started the century rep bashing with this post:
