Are their products dependable and are they a good company to deal with. Thinking of purchasing one of their kits.

Thanks,

Yep, here we go again.

You may want to go the Century Forum and ask the guys & gals there.

I speak from personal experience (and that of many others).

They treat customers as a necessary evil. They're happy to take your money but if you have a problem, watch out. They don't seem to realize that taking care of the customer after the sale is a necessary part of business. They seem to believe that advertising (promises of product) is all that is needed for a reputable business. They have had problems making good on those promises.

You earn respect, you don't buy it.
(no disrespect to the field reps. intended)

Some people say that that they are trying to get better. But how many years (4 that I know of so far) will they need ????

To give you an example;

Once, 3 years ago, I called and suggested that they make the tail fin longer on their Falcon which I had. I was told to learn to fly better so I could keep the tail rotor out of the dirt.

Within 6 months, they were offering a longer tail fin.

Instead of insulting me, they could have just told me that it was in the works.

I remember someone on this forum, not too long ago, said there stuff is "POOP"!!....., I dont know, I have never bought any of their products. Im sure their heli's are decent, there is a lot of great things being said about the Predator, so they cant be all that bad!

we all know how reputable he was, with his enormous experience with century's entry level hawk sport

even i would say the hawk sport is lacking.... and i am pro century. but hey, it is there for learning on, not competing with the JR sylphide...

Myself, I don't care if their bad to deal with or not. If a parts missing out of the kit I just ordered I will call them up and they will send the part out just like any other company. I do care about whether the heli is good or not. And judging by what I have seen so far from the the predator max I can't wait to get my predator. Every heli has it's draw backs but I really like the power to weight ratio the pmax has.

Opinions on brands and models

Bubba1

These types of questions never get treated maturely and usually end up being a ford/chevy p&$%ssing match, that bring out the worst in many people.... specially those who have old experences or no experience with the product and pass on third party scuttle butt.

For a more practicle, up to date opinion, go and ask the people who are current owners and users of the product. (e.g. You would not ask a Ford owner what he thinks of Chev and vice versa). Where will you find that? In the brand specific forums here on RR.

Go the the Century forum here on RR (scroll down the menu on the right hand side of the mainpage and you will find the brand specific forums for all the various manufacturers) and ask the people there who are every day users of the product what they think.

You are obviously new to this forum. Generally you will find that the manufacturer's representatives will not voice opinions on the product of other manufacturers in public forums, and if they do, the proper ettiquette is that they will show, in their signatures, that they are a rep for whatever product they represent. Unfortunately, there are some who still do not do so (some of these have already posted here in your thread). I know Century would not look kindly on one of its reps answering such a question on how good or not good Hirobo or Thunder Tiger are.

So my advice to you is to be sure to ask users of the product what they think about it.

Also for an idea of its broad popularity, you can get a pretty good idea by the number of postings on the product by the users of that product in their respective forums. Browse through these forums and see how many of these postings are positive ones, are postings on genearal motor, gyro or mechanical set up with the product and how many are issues of component failures or other design or manufacturing problems. This will give you a very educated idea of that manufacturers quality and support.

Hi Bubba1
Have a good look around and make up your mind. You can always" PM "me and get the "poop" on any heli, even if I don't know what I'm talking about you'll never know.

There is not one machine on this planet the EVERYONE just loves. To ask an open ended question is asking for both sides I understand. But it will quickly turn into a "I know you are, but what am I" type of situation. Use the search function a see what you can find. I am sure you will find plenty. Good luck.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

I stopped buying from them years ago... They have really bad customer service and have lost me as a customer forever... I suggest you spend your money where you will be treated with a little common curtesy. -Steve

Worse customer service

Hello,

They have the worse customer service. People at my club in San Jose, where they are located, hate them to their bone.

It seems like they only want to deal with Internet customer. I came to their store to purchase a pair of white Xcell 3D paddles and they refused to help me with my purchase because I did not have a part number with me!
