Anybody out there using the FMA Co-Pilot on a gasser Heli? I was just wondering if it worked properly, or if you have encountered any problems with the use of this device on this type of heli? Thanks in advance!! Joe.

Howdy...

I have tried one on my Xcell gasser, and I've had troubles.

I think there's some interference from the ignition system. The system works fine when on the ground with engine off, but with the engine running, the swashplate moved backwards and I had to turn the unit off to prevent the heli from flipping backwards.

It has been suggested that this was due to my exhaust at the rear of the heli heating up and being 'ground' to co-pilot.

Also, even when turned off, the heli would 'glitch' and swing to the left or right suddenly while I was hovering. I removed the Co-pilot from the loop, and plugged the servos back in directly, and this solved the problem.

FMA says that my PCM receiver might need a buffer, but then it shouldn't work when the engine is off, which it seems to. I think the ribbon cable passing by the engine's ignition is the problem, and possibly the heat from the rear exhaust.

Let me know if you find out otherwise.

Regards,
