Aerial Photography and Video > where to buy in the UK

I need to put together a basic still and video set up for amateur purposes.

Im a total newbie to aerial photogaraphy so need a few pointers. I'm presuming that this will be a 2 man operation, one pilot and 1 handling the images. I will use my Robbe Cuatro, and would like to keep the current 90 size glow engine for the moment, exhaust gases permitting.

What mechanisms do you use for camera control operation, ie, zoom, etc?

I was going to fabricate a basic system for camera pan/tilt etc. Has anyone got any suggestions or pointers for a good design?

How do you set off the shutter on digital still shots, is this mechanical servo operated or does someone sell an electronic interface from the reciever for various camera brands?

Where can I buy a basic downlink system in the UK, presumably I can set it up to view on a laptop?

Thanks

I've had the itch to do it for a while now, but need to work out how to do it. Any parts of the forum you don't cover

Janek,

I think some of your shots could be fantastic - worst case they'll end up on Kirsty's home videos

Saw the thread, amazing stuff.

Sorry to learn about the rappy, parked my Nova in a tree once - it was the cheapest crash I ever had with it. Never a tree around when you need one.

Dodger,
have a look here http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t72426p1/
this little device combined with your camera's infrared remote control is all you need for trigger and zoom. Providing of course that these functions are available on the IR remote.

I also have a spare downlink. I no longer need it after I got an ICOM IC-R3 video scanner.

take a look at my site

we offer a system that will give film grade results without the prices that go with it, though we have some footage being released at cannes festival.
