I hope you can help....PLEASE! I just upgraded my Corona to a Mega 16/15/4 and a Jeti controller, and while the rotor speed comes up O.K., I seems to be unable to get any real lift out of it. The best I can seem to manage is a skittering, 1-2 in. high hover.

I'm using stock gearing, and power is from a 7 cell 3300 Mah NiMH battery. What the heck am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, and immediately tried!

I don't know Corona heli so just theoretical advise. It could be anything and all.
- what about different pinion, have you tried one?
- could be wrong controller settings e.g. governor (which JETI?)
- what about collective pitch angle?
- check main rotor RPM
Usually after you switch to the new brushless motor you have to find proper pinion. Each motor has different KV and torque.

I see that the Mega 16/15/4 has a KV of 2200. That is most likely lower than the brushed motor you were running which typically have a KV of 3000 or more. It is just a guess on my part without looking at your machine first hand, but I bet you need a larger pinion. You probably just aren't getting enough headspeed.

Is there anyway way to verify on the Jeti that you are indeed hitting 100% throttle? An LED, anything?

Exactly what brushed motor were you running?

You need the MEGA 16-15-3 atleast to get the Corona in the air...

The 16-15-3 has a KV of 3000, which is in the lower regions even that.

You might have to switch pinions to get the /4 to work. But you could also just go to 8 cells (like 8 1950's or 8 NIMH's).

Bolink and others (Traxxas, etc) have pinions. It's standard car 32P with 1/8" shaft.

With a 3000KV on 7 cells you're probably pulling 22K under load (if you're using good cells, if you're using cheapo batteries much less) so that's about 1900 RPM at the head at 100%. So, ya, you probably aren't getting much performance.

Switch pinions or add cells.
