| The Sceadu has what they call "out of track" problems we would call it the woof, they also have a tendency to eat main gears, and if you have a 50 they have been known to over heat. All of these problems have been denied by Hirobo, they have replaced the main gears but only in the new kit's. MA has been notorious for running out of parts and the way their kit's trickle into the market... well let's just say I have this mental picture of two little old ladies doing all the work. The Fury line of helicopters has had it's share of problems too, it's just not popular to bash a $700 helicopter that requires a $600 radio and $100 servo's just to fly it. As for Ace and the Raptor line all I can say is I've been very happy with them and their helicopters. My Raptor 30 (powered by OS)has not had any of the problems associtated with the line. I've flown it hundreds of times and am still using the original clutch, I've crashed it a few times and it was always less than $100 dollars to repair, and no matter what I do I can't seem to make it woof, but I know it can if it wants to but then I knew that when I bought it. My Raptor 60 (powered by OS) came with wood blades that were out of balance too, but then who would fly a 60 size heli with wood blades anyway! My Raptor 60 was built from a kit just like my Raptor 30, I took my time making sure that every thing that spun was balanced and that the gears meshed properly and was rewarded with a smooth flying helicopter. So far I have only had one problem, the TT muffler broke off while hovering 3 feet above the ground, the muffler dangled down onto the landing gear making metal to metal contact and causing the radio to glitch which in short order slammed the bird into the dirt causing much damage as you can imagine. I took the now two piece muffler and mailed it back to Ace with an explanation of what happend, the following week I had a new muffler and crash kit that came with wood blades that were out of balance, I still had to get some other items, composite blades and such, but all in all Ace took very good care of me. The moral of this story is that no matter what brand of helicopter you buy you always run the risk of getting a lemon it's just the nature of the beast, helicopters require a lot of attention think of them as 1000 parts desperatley trying to get away from each other. |
