Here's my latest Fury canopy done by Bill Ludwig at Arizona Heli. Unmatched quality every time!

Very nice canopy!

I've had one of Bill's canopies myself. Very good quality. Maybe I'll order a new one. Unfortunately with shipping and customs it will be well over $250.

Very nice Scott! I've ordered a Raptor 60 canopy today from Bill, he sounds great, service is FAB, you get replies within a couple of hours and normally even less. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Tim, how much were you charged by customs last time? I ordered without even thinking about that as I thought it is just a body shell and could well be a gift from a friend and canopies are different than electronic items or a bundle of spare parts. I hope mine comes through ok.

Anyway, when I see the postie holding it I think he would easily be able to name his price, especially when I'm half asleep at 7 in the morning.

Shipping to the Netherlands was $35, taxes are calculated over product + shipping. Our tax is 19%, UK VAT is 17.5%.
Next Dutch customs charges a fixed price for administration costs which is a about $17.5

So here is the calculation:

Canopy $159
Shipping $35
------------------
Total $194
19%Tax $231
AdminCosts $17.5
--------------------------
Total $249.

Not over $250 but I forgot I also had the matching fins.

You could be lucky but a box of the size that Bill uses for his canopies (very well protected) will probably not slip through customs.

I must say that the quality of Bill's work was still worth every penny I paid for it but since helicopters will crash I'm not sure this is a very wise investment. (mine did last about a year ). But it looks very cool.

Thanks Tim, I felt the same about paying money out for something so nice and risking crashing it, but I figured when it's all finished and looks like a million dollars, I might be a bit more carefull with it. I've never went for a professionally painted canopy before so I thought I'd treat myself and I bet those pics really don't do it justice.

I ordered the same design flown by Danny Szabo and I really can't wait to see what it will look like when it is finished. I think I will actually buy a standard canopy as well just for the average day's flying and keep Bill's one for fly-ins or comp's. I also got some of that mirror-glaze to keep it top notch.

Paid $184 for mine including post and packing and I'll let you know if I am lucky enough for it so slip through customs.

Bill is one great guy! I had him paint my Fury canopy with the good 'ole Red White & Blue and even had my name and AMA# on it.

BTW, Great looking canopy

spurry,
Did you also get a bottle of "sustained piroflips on the deck(tm)" with it for that price? Actually that's his big brother......
I really like that yellow canopy from Danny Szabo.

Regards,
Bas.

Of course, that's what the mirror glaze does. It's like a genie in a bottle, when you spray a little of this on, wipe off the excess, then buff to a shine, it unleashes the true 3D power of Alan and Danny.

Ok, it might not fly like them but I'll be half way there in having an identical heli. Gotta love the design.

Bill does a very good job at filling his orders and making them all look good. I have two canopies from him and they still look great.

tim, next time have bill put a invoice with it for "a paint job" for 25 usd.
nothing more, nothing less, and youll avoid all custom misery.
when it is checked in on customs and you have to fill in a declaration, tell you sent in the canopy to be painted for 25 bucks.
no import tax next time and you still can enjoy the beauty of the canopy.

Yup, they do great work. I took a pic of Szabo Jr's ride and the quality is pretty awesome.

That's a good idea but what if customs asks for proof of shipment of the canopy?. These days especially with CyberHeli shipments customs are really annoying, they want to see proof for everything. Same goes for repair shipments, you have to prove that you bought it earlier and you have to proof that you shipped it out in the first place.

This used to work once but customs have become smarter (not really bright though).

Our birds will be almost identical Rob (tribal style, MPII, metal goodies), love to see a pic of yours when it arrives. Let me know if you get stung by customs please, hope not.
