| As far as gps's go, if you want to use it in the car instead of a map, then a gps that does not have mapping built in is not really in the picture. however, usually the gps's that do have built in maps cost exponentially more then the ones that do not. i have a garmin etrex summit, which allows you to upload maps into it. it is pretty nice. i used it on a road trip a couple of times, and it worked great. it even comes with the barometric altimiter (whether anyone who doesn't jump out of a plane needs this or not is questionable). you could probably get away with one of the cheaper etrex units and not pay as much as you would for the streetpilot. ecost.com usually has pretty good prices on these things. good luck. |
