Main Discussion > a smoother cyclic system for all 30 to 50 helis

It seem to me as for the smaller helis such as the 30 to 50 size, you would get smoother control in your cyclic system if you were to use high torque servos such as the JR 4131 or 4721,,, I know that this sounds like over-kill for torque, but torque is relative here, if these high torque servos were to be used on this small size heli the servos would not have as much of a load/strane on them, they would not have to work as hard so they would work smoother than a standard size servo ?!?! Comments please !!

You'll get hammered on this one I'm sure ....... I was stupid enough stating that I fly an 8411 on my collective in the Sceadu 50 and got flamed for it, I wonder what your question will get out of the "pro's".

BTW I fly 8411s on my cyclic also and I like the way my heli flies......

I have an R30 and use 4131s on ail. & ele., 8101 on collective, and a 2700 on the tail. 517 on throttle. Works for me!

I have 4131s all around on a Raptor 30 and have not broke a push rod yet.

I don't know, I'll probably be labled an "Armchair expert" by the pros for saying this but I think it can't hurt to put the high torque servos into those birds. I've got my little spread sheet of my potential sceadu setup and it uses 60 size servos. Say you bash the bird pretty good and/or want a 60 to replace it. You will already have the servos. Like you say, the control authority would be there. Sounds like a winner.

I agree with semi articulate on this one,the higher end servos are nice, and can help in the long run,if money is no problem, although setup is important, as no servo will help correct setup problems.Linkages have to be smooth as well as other moving components/controls.
Working on your expo and ATV's can "smooth"things out,as well as running higher atv's w shorter servo arms lengths to make your servos job easier in the torque dept.......But! metal servo gear sets arent cheap, something to think about..........4131's alwyas worked good for me in the past,The 8101 is the newer equivalent.
Hope this gives you some insight as to which way to go
