It is with great sadness that I learned from Horace Hagen of the FAI of the loss of one of the heli communities finest fliers. Daniele Graber of the Swiss FAI F3C team that just competed in Muncie was killed in the crash of his Mini-500 helicopter. He was one of the few pilots that had been competing in the World Champs since their start in 1984.

On a dog sled team, if you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.

Sad to lose another mini-500 pilot. Those machines are death traps unless all the mods and AD's are complied with. and even then they have taken some incredibly talented heli pilots.

I've been involved in experimental rotorcraft for a long time and was one of only 17 FAA certified gyroplane CFI's and the mini-500 had the potential to be the greatest heli ever released for public consumption.

It just affirms to me how precious life is and that we need to live everyday to the fullest. My regrets and condolences go out to Daniele Graber's family.
