e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > Triton early cut off

I have some GP 3300 14 cell packs I tried to charge with my Triton. I fly them totally empty and the Triton cuts off after putting 2300 mA into the packs. (Charging at 5A )
How can I to get it to charge longer ??

Any help appreciated.

What settings are you using on the Triton?

Auto or Manual?

Okay. First thing, on the NiMH setting, the Triton has a limiter. Make sure the limiter is set to something above the capacity of your cells.

Yup, check that timer. Also make sure the peak per cell is set at 3mv per cell. Mine came set at 10 and that caused some false peaks...

Ruff.

Good point regarding the peak setting. But did you perhaps mean to describe the peak settings the other way around? 3mV/Cell would be more sensitive and more prone to false peaks than 10mV/Cell.

Early cutoff....try it on a Lead Acid Battery!

Check out your Triton on a Sealed Lead Acid Battery......my last two cut off while still charging at near full current!

I notice that the Triton pauses charging to check on the batteries voltage at idle. This is where the charger seems to possibly get into trouble and terminates the charge cycle. It is also possible that the Triton is not going into the Constant Voltage mode of charging.

I checked my charger while charging a Li-Ion 2-cell battery and I noticed that the Triton DOES NOT stop charging when in the Constant Voltage mode to temporarily check battery voltage. This is what should be happening when charging sealed lead acid batteries.
