| I have been flying helis for about 30 years now and am one of the self taught folks. That just means that I spent a lot of money to learn to fly these things. I learned in the days of no gyros or computer radios.
The loop, roll. auto requirements, although interesting, probably are not necessary to prove competence in the operation of turbine helicopters. If you can fly it around in a controlled manner and handle a flame out, you should be good to go. Yea, I fly my turbine upside down. sideways, etc, but that is lot of money to risk if you are not comfortable with those type of proceedures.
Maybe they should rethink these requirements. Just a thought.
