| The batteries come with a label on them saying to slow charge them the first charge, "until warm", which I did. It took a good day and a half for them to warm up too, the stock Futaba charger really has to work on them to pack in a full charge to such as large capacity battery.
After that I've been using a peak-detecting quickcharger at its slowest quickcharge rate, about 400mAh. After a long day of flying it usually takes about 12 hrs at that rate to hit peak and drop into trickle charge. NiMH cells don't like being overcharged. I'd recommend using a peak-detecting charger on any NiMH you have, for maximum battery life.
Unfortunately, my peak-detecting charger can't charge 8 cell packs, so I just have to plug the transmitter's pack into the stock Futaba charger. I leave it plugged in as long as the other pack is charging, and unplug them at the same time. Same goes for the glow starter.
The 9001's appear to be working quite well, although I'm not stressing them at all with my flying. The one on the pitch takes a while to move from one extreme to the other though, due to the long distance it has to pull the linkage. (Raptor) Someone flying 3D would probably want a faster servo there. |
