Beginners Corner > How does it fly after removing T gear?

I am going to remove my training gear by the end of week and was wondering how it is going to fly after I remove it? I have a Raptor 50 with the Rotopod training gear. Is it more stable or less stable or about the same? Is it more sensitive to my inputs?

Thanks for your help,

Brooks

I would make some simple gear that are much shorter rather than going "Cold Turkey". You will find that it takes a little less power to hover and the cyclic controls and responce will be a bit quicker

I found my nexus a LOT smoother without the training gear.. It made so many vibrations throughout my airframe that the gyro was wagging the tail a lot.. I love flying it now.. just seems soooo much smoother! But then again, that was my opinion..

my nexus was smoother also, and much more responsive.
however, i was flying from grass without a pad or anything to land on and at one point while practicing landing, one of my skids got stuck in the grass. since i just ditched the training gear, i was trying to readjust to flying without that extra weight. well, i ran up the throttle as i would with the training gear on, and about the time i noticed that the skid was snagged, it popped out and the thing took off like a rocket! (ok, maybe not that fast, but i was on edge enough as it was!)

End of week?

Let me know when you are thinking about doing this... I'll be there for moral support.

Hopefully we can get mine back up inteh air before end of the week.

Not sure if you saw, but Tommy Patterson sprayed some patterns out at the field to correspond with IRCHA PPP. I like the idea of having a set goal to work on rather than just doing it sometimes.
